There are a ton of people here on TL who watch a lot of SC2. Why not have them on the show? Oh yeah, their opinions aren't highly valued, that's why.

No, they don't work for G4 and do anything for ESPORTS other then posting in a forum (which is quite important actually :3). Leah doesn't just watch Starcraft, she gets the word out to the masses (through G4) about how awesome eSports and Starcraft really is. Not calling out anybody whose posted above me, but people need to stop having this sexist attitude towards women in the growing eSports community. This is nothing new to gaming communities throughout the internet, but shouldn't we at least attempt to put some effort into breaking that norm.

I mean no offense to anyone when I say this but let's be serious for a moment:
If the TeamLiquid writers were featured on SOTG would anybody really give a shit about what they say?
It's not about "being sexist", it's just that she doesn't have any real credibility to be on the podcast. People don't want to hear about the authors, they want to hear about the heroes. We want to hear from players and casters (people with a REAL background in SC) not people who make pretty articles.
+ Show Spoiler +I actually do want to hear her opinions, but I doubt the majority of listeners will stand for it.

It's one thing if they have her on to discuss things that relate to G4. But they shouldn't have her on while they discuss topics that don't pertain to her area of knowledge.
Can we stop with this whole fuckin "oh you're sexist derp derp" any time someone says anything about a female. I don't like it when people do something when they're not qualified.

The unfortunate dumb truth is that sometimes it isn't what you know, it's who you are.

Not sure why people care that leah was on. She wasn't taking up a spot for anyone else. They already had the 4 pillars and a guest on.

Perhaps I'm being ignorant, but I'm pretty confident that more people would read her stuff if she was just an ordinary poster here on TL. I've never heard of anybody that goes to G4 to read stuff on SC2.

Leah is good for the show, but the problem is the discussions weren't specific to her field.
When you're analyzing games and players, the best place to go is casters/commentators/pro players for opinions. A casual observer/writer/whatever else Leah does can't really provide much input in these sorts of discussions. She can't go into detail about PuMa's strengths and weaknesses. Certainly her input on that matter is moot compared to Tyler, Artosis, Sheth and Day9.
The issue was this entire episode was mostly about these sorts of things. When the discussions start going towards more broader topics like esports in general, broadcasting, coverage etc. etc. her input is much more valuable.
In short, I think she was a bad choice to appear on the show this week. The topics didn't really suit her strengths. She was much more comfortable the other time she was on and discussing esports on television. Gotta pick your guests a little wiser JP!
EDIT: Re-reading this post it really puts Leah in a negative light. Didn't mean to convey that tone. I think she is wonderful for the show given the right set of topics. But when it is purely about analyzing players/games stick to pros/casters.

I have to admit I'd love to see more of the TeamLiquid writers and staff, not just on SoTG But really in just about any other starcraft "thing" that gets the exposed like that.
I recall Hot_bit and Kennigit showing up and saying things that no one ever thinks of, giving the rest of us a view point we don't really think of that often (other then the player, the caster, the viewer ect...) but one thing that people need to ask is: do they even want it?
But back to the point: being on shows like SoTG is part of the job for people like Leah and that is why we see them, I have no doubt they also do it for love of the game and the community but we need to understand that if we like it on not we should not hate it since its helping SC grow.

However, the articles that Leah writes aren't necessarily for people who are already into Starcraft. An avid visitor of G4tv.com might read one of Leah's write-ups on an MLG event and be genuinely interested in checking out this whole eSports thing. I don't think anyone here is touting Leah as the one stop shop for all things SC2. It's more of the fact that she writes for a website where the average visitor may not have heard of MLG, or the growing eSports scene. As a result, these people might garner an interest in SC2 and its larger than life events.

SotG also talks about things around SC2 not just inside the competitive mind. That would be something she is more experienced in then an Idra for example as it is here job to cover eSports for a major gaming outlet like G4. So that kind of insight (at least to me) is interesting in how perceptions in the general gaming culture may be changing. You won't really get that if you only have "SC2 Heroes" on, in which it case it becomes just an echo chamber in a hardcore bubble.

Yeah I gotta be honest I hate it when they bring random TL mods onto the show. Its nothing personal, its just that they never add anything to show that random_SC2_fan_001 can't. Guests like Leigh, Anna, and Sundance are different because they do bring unique perspectives (even if they don't understand high level SC2)

This appears to be the article in question. Or rather I assume so, since it's fairly new, and it seems to have created a stir on reddit (which is where I found it, with some googling).
