Connotation is subjective. You can't make everyone happy. As many people will be made happy by the exemption of rape as will be offended that our vocabulary is being limited by political correctness. The only way to accomplish anything, in a capitalistic society, in this scenario, is let competition do it's job. If people don't want to hear people hear rape, they won't listen to people say rape.

The argument that somehow because someone is popular they suddenly have more moral responsibility is ridiculous. It's not because of Destiny that he is popular, therefore he shouldn't have to suffer the consequences of his popularity.

EDIT: People like incontrol willingly took up the banner of spokesman, so they do in fact increase the burden upon themselves.

The fact that anyone is trying to defend the use of "rape" or any racial slurs as a part of the "gamer canon" is kind of ridiculous.

Not only are these words hurtful to those affected(and others) they DO NOT convey meaning effectively.

"Rape" and racial slurs are used in "gamer culture" because many "gamers" are teenagers.... There should be no defense to include these terms.

It is not even about pandering to a "hyper-sensitive" minority, it's about not talking like a fucking 13-year old kid. Grow up and learn how to convey your points and emotions without using words a pre-pubescent kid would use.

Don't give me this high-minded bullshit about "philosophy of language". Language is about conveing meaning effectively. These words are used by little kids for a reason, BECAUSE the do not convey meaning effectively. They are empty words which only bring harm, rather than clarify.

They're thinking of this in too much of a business sense. There are two different sides of Starcraft. There is the online community where we are just chilling out and I feel we should say whatever the fuck we want. Whereas, in the tournament sense people should censor themselves to try to appeal to the masses.
