I've always heard that its the adrenaline rush and nerves that causes your body to send the blood out of your upper extremities to your legs to prepare you to run. That's why every Korean pro uses hand warmers between every game. It's very normal, but only happens to me when I'm about to win. lol

I am very calm while playing so I do not get anxious but if my hands are cold due to room temperature, I will probably play much worse.

Back in 2012 when I was pretty into 1v1 I always used to have a hoodie I had to wear before playing in order to not shiver and freeze. What's weird is that it wasn't the room temperature or anything like that it was the game that made my body freeze. The hoodie helped a lot though.

I had it for a while, Walking around between ans Work you hands again, it completly went Away agter i called myself down, then i Never get Cold hands.

This happens almost everytime for me. So annoying. Other times my hands get sweaty and that's even worse.

very first game you shouldnt focus on winning but focus on not missing supply blocks, and constantly making units for the first few games. weather you win or lose, cuz your trying to get into the habit. since money is not on the line no need to get nervous

This phenomenon has nothing to do with 'poor circulation'. It's simply the physiological response and the adaptive changes made by your body to what is perceived by your autonomic (automatic, animalistic) nervous system (ANS) as a threatening, dangerous situation.

The two branches of the ANS are sympathetic (fight or flight) and parasympathetic (rest and digest). In the environment we evolved in, using your fingers and fine motor skills were not required in these scary situations, we either had to run away or fight. The release of noradrenaline, causes opening of the airways, increased heart rate and increased core body temperature (which leads to sweating), the shivering is your body trying to increase its temperature. Blood vessels constrict (for the most part) directing blood away from your gut and liver and towards your big muscle groups, the side effect of this is the relatively small blood vessels supplying your hands and feet get reduced blood flow, the heat that was in them dissipates with the excess sweat and they go cold and less responsive.

Some people are much better conditioned to function in the fight or flight mode, either genetically or through learning and thus don't experience quite as cold extremities. Likewise, those who are prone to anxiety get it much worse. The best solution is to warm your environment and your hands, which triggers vasodilation allowing the blood back in.

My hands never get cold while playing RTS games, only during first-person shooters. Weird, must be a anxiety thing.

I have had the same thing happening to me. I realized it was because of the position of my hands. The elbows were below my hands and that made the blood flow slower. I found two solutions : wear a thick jacket to warm up or elevate the chair so that my elbows would be higher than my hands. That changed the blood flow and fixed my problem. I hope this helps.

Buy an old DA :p mine is malfunctioning and i can't use it anymore because it's heating sooo much that it hurts my hand. Second one that does that for me.
