Ted, it seems there is most likely a problem with your game files. Where are you installing it from? Where did you download the SCII game files? Almost seems like your download didn't finish properly... Ive fresh installed, fresh downloaded and installed, and i get that error every time. 3 times now, it cant be my game files =\ Just said in my post above before I saw this, it is most likely because the faulty patch has been pushed into the game files you can download from online, so your copy is therefore not working. Just wait for them to fix it and it should all be good.
Eh.. let's hope so. =\ I dont really see how they could fix it unless they release an all new 450 mb patch?

*** I updated my previous posting
Holy shit people. OK. I am going to lay out the facts for EVERYONE HERE, since many of you demonstrate a severe deficiency in reading capabilities.
1. OMGZ DOWNLOAD??? Yes, the download took freaking forever. Just let it download. Stop asking questions. 2. WAHHH INFINITE LOOP??? Yes, we are all getting an error where after it is done downloading, the patcher seems to be stuck in a loop. Blizzard has responded here, telling us to hold tight. 3. DO I NEED TO REINSTALL??? No. This will not solve anything. 4. DO I HAZ PATCH??? You can tell if you have it by navigating to Starcraft II Beta > Versions > you should be looking for a folder called "Base15097." If it is there, then you have the patch. If it's not there, you don't have the patch. Simple as that. 5. MY GAME WORKS!!! Even IF you were to get the game started, it wouldn't matter because Blizzard took Battle.net offline to do some upgrades. Again, sit tight and just WAIT for their response. 6. I DIDN'T LISTEN TO BLIZZ SO I REINSTALLED AND IT DON'T WORK!!! In this case, I think the online download Blizz is offerring has the faulty patch included. They'll offer a fix soon for this.

did you pay for sc2? they ARE testing the game. WE ARE testing this game. This is beta, no one payed for it and we are volunteers. If you don't like it, then just wait for game to come out.

ROFL @ people complaining about bugs. Its what beta are for, finding the bugs and making a bunch of people happy to play their game for free before every one else.
I know I am happy to be in beta, even though i wish reapers could not come kill my probes so fast in the game lol

lol, some people are extremely stupid. let me spell this out for some people here. THEYRE NOT MAKING ANY MONEY OFF THIS RIGHT NOW. to allocate to many resources to something they are not currently making any money on is idiotic business-wise. they haven't actually released the game yet, the point of beta is trial and error. they test it and see if things work for when people actually BUY the game.
again, i repeat, we haven't spent a cent on actually getting this game yet, so stfu and quit bitching and moaning. your complaints don't mean shit to blizzard, because in the end, your just one little person to their multi-billion dollar company.

its suposed to be around 500MB, someone posted on the blizz forums last night that it was 491MB, but it's not 100% sure that this is the real size of the patch.

Your opinion being:
As Blizzard as a company grew, the quality of what they do decreased. Now, when they test their game before release, and they had some minor (couple of hours) issues in opening up a huge patch, you as a tester of the game is dissapointed that they didn't test.
?
just making sure...

I am also stuck in a loop. It eventually stops after 10 loops and says "this program is not responding"
Dangit! Good thing I have a masters degree in patience :D

Does anyone have an issue where their autoupdater doesn't appear at all and it just launches SC2 right away?

You realize that by testing now in the BETA PHASE, the number of major bugs that happen during the actual release will be decreased, right?
Yes, there will be bugs after release but when you are a paying customer after release, be happy that there was a BETA PHASE where beta TESTERS tested these bugs out for you beforehand.

Better now than on release day

Just don't panic and everything will be fine... My first beta day is underwhelming so far, but it'll probably be fixed soon. =p

This is just something I found peculiar:
I loaded SC2 through the SC2Switcher.exe in the Support folder and when it gave me the message that Battle.net is down, I clicked okay and a bunch of strange pop-ups flashed on the screen with beeping. Anyone else get that?
