TL is allowed to do this. The man can be rejected as there all all female and all male schools. Also, there are laws that say that some institutions must have some minorities and people of different sexes. The man has no case and TL can do what they wish. The 14th amendment states things about citizenship, it wouldn't be of very much use in this case. | ||

I rule in favor of Mr. Crazy because you cannot discriminate on race or gender but you can give scholarships to entice the person to go to the school. | ||

I would decide in favor of T. Dot Crazy, citing the case Bakke v. Regents of UC where Bakke, a white male, was denied admission to the university despite being highly qualified because the university had not met its quota of blacks. Thus, precedent has been established that corporations and universities cannot establish discriminatory quotas. | ||

Because TeamLiquid U is a private institution, their admittance is their own choice. The equal protection clause states that, "no state shall ... deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws. In this case the state has no jurisdiction over a private university. They could continue to be fully gender segregated, but they are choosing to allow women. This does not mean that the seats that the women take were somehow owned by the men before and are now being taken away. @ SilentAlfa: the UC system is state operated, and so this only sets precedent for state colleges, not private institutions. | ||

Reply: My judgment would be that the claim made by the one male is not valid since a portion of the university's enrollment slots have been reserved for females. So to make a claim against the university by a male because he was not accepted is not valid since all the slots for males have been filled. | ||
