Forever I think his point was that the matchmaking system makes sure you have ~50% winchance. Let's assume race X is overpowered. Then the matchmaking system gives you an opponent (who plays X) who is worse than you. But because of the imbalance both of you have ~50% chance of winning. It's not what we perceive as a "balanced game" but it gives wach player a 50% winchance, which is kinda balanced too. Of course this logic does not apply to tournaments/custom games (outside of the matchmaking algorithm). But I kinda see his point.
