For years I've been playing versions of SC that don't have the menu music. The second I heard the high pitched sound at 0:26 the most insane feeling of nostalgia washed over me, like hearing the voice of an old friend you haven't heard from in years. The new parts of the music seem kind of forced though and different in tone than the old mysterious space-y music.

It's too bad the people behind the music at Blizzard rarely gets any attention in the media. I mean if I mention Dustin Browder, Samwise Didier and Chris Sigaty a lot of people will say that they know who they are or that they at least recognize the names. But if I mention Tracy W. Bush, Derek Duke, Glenn Stafford or Russell Brower hardly anyone is going to react.

Those guys are geniuses.

Reminds me of some of the soundtracks on the old Batman Returns directed by Tim Burton combined with like Star Wars and something else.

Danny Elfman's stuff specifically.

ahhh this is such a breath of fresh air. It's not very original, but nevertheless very good and better than what I was expecting. I can't say it's better than an Uematsu or Sakuraba soundtrack, though.

I've been really disappointed with most of the Terran music so far... I really hope they change it to something more deep. The protoss theme is AWESOME, and the zerg themes are boring (lol).

I guess I've been stuck here (Oberlin) too long if I'm thinking that.

If you have the beta installed you can extract the .ogg yourself. Just download a MPQ editor here: http://www.zezula.net/en/mpq/download.html

Then open up C:\Program Files\StarCraft II Beta\Mods\Liberty.SC2Mod\base.SC2Assets and browse to Assets\Music\MainTitleSC1-01.ogg
