I sort of know the author and i dont want it to be promotional (thats cheap) so i would like to know what i cannot write or some pointers. Don't take my word for it, because I am no one in this community really, but I would guess it would be fine. A book is something that takes a lot more commitment than a stream or a channel: people can just click on a link without much thought, but you have to actually go find and buy a book. To me that means that promotion of a book is a lot less... overt? than a virtual item. I don't know how successful a thread about a relatively unknown book will go, though.

To me that means that promotion of a book is a lot less... overt? than a virtual item. I don't know how successful a thread about a relatively unknown book will go, though. It's fine imo. Look at people making thread about games, why should it be different with books? As long as you promote something that people (TL users) will most likely be interested in. Though, if you are promoting your book (considering that you;re a no name and your book actually cost money / you gain something from it) then that's self-advertising. EDIT: So i think the big theme around this advertising policy is CONTRIBUTION to the community.
