Then again, he does have good jokes like the one in Raleigh about the build order for girls, LOL
He's happy that he's on camera talking about Starcraft as it is something he loves to do. I like the humourous stories at the start of the daily about Day's recent escapades and wouldn't have it any other way. If you don't like them you can always skip the first 5 minutes of the video.

I'm a bit behind the times now... Does Day9 main zerg? I remember the days when he used to random and comment how zerg was his worst race by far and how much he used to hate playing them.

he is still playing all races afaik but mainly protoss

Every single day Day9 delays an episode #170 a kitten will die.

i would like to see some more dailies about ZvT it would be great if they could be with Dimaga : )

Love the Daily's, especially as a newer player, they're really great for someone like me. I do want to say that I really hope #170 finds its way online. I have no idea how to refine a BO of my own and something like that would be invaluable for me, I was really looking forward to that one. I know you're busy Day, but don't forget to get that posted at some point, pretty pleeeease! :D

Just because you haven't yet discovered the fun in coordinating with your teammates in 2+ v 2+ doesn't mean it couldn't be equally competitive or "pure" or whatever. I can understand it being more difficult on giving good advice on, but hey, one can hope

i could be completely off here, does day9 do a different video 5 days a week? I always watch them on bliptv (never live) and only seem to get 1-2 a week. Is this because im not watching them live?

It's because he's been busy commentating tournaments lately. He casts Sun-Thu normally. #170 had some technical thing with the recording.

I think Day[9] comes off as "too nice" because he's always thinking about something funny and he's trying not to break out laughing (seems to happen to him a lot). In my opinion, his "smirk" that you find "smug" looks like a man fighting a losing battle not to laugh.
Good ol' jolly Day[9]

Since strings usually burn faster from bottom to top than the other way, it might take 2 hours for it to burn from top to bottom, so the presented method of day9 wouldnt work. That's true, but you're just being ridiculous now. Obviously you'd assume the strings are rated at 1 hour when burning horizontally, and that's how you'd use them.
1) I'm paraphrasing what Day9 said. Watch the video. Watch his reasoning for why the string cannot be cut. Part of the reasoning is that "you don't know that the string burns evenly." Which coincidentally could mean it burns at an increasing rate.
2) Like I said by the restriction he placed the solution has the same problem as the disallowed solution. If you can explain how folding a string into quarters is impossible for a two year old to accomplish with no other tools at hand I'll be impressed. I'm not Einstein and I have figured it out. I'm sure you can too.

You have to assume that a given length of the string will burn in the same amount of time no matter how long the rest of the string has been on fire. That's physics. maybe the last quarter of the string was dipped in petrol making it burn faster, but still totaling to 1hour. Day9's solution would still be valid. That would be "information withheld". I don't believe the string not burning uniformly would be a natural assumption for the vast majority of people. That information should be included in the riddle.
Again I'm going by the reasoning day9 provided. Which was we do not know the string burns evenly. I find that this particular bump in the road removes the possibility for any solution.

Tuning in from sweden. Keep it up! Would be fun to see some games where you play, like Day9 battle net attack!

I have played plenty of team oriented RTS over the years and this one does not translate like many of the building RTS. It just doesn't. The game is about map control and unit choice which is severely diminished the more people there are on the map. Discussing strategic points that differentiate 2v2 from 1v1 is mostly WIFOM and minutia far and away from 1v1 play.
In short your assumptions are off base. If someone asks for something different from Day9 and I think it's terrible I'm going to add my 2 cents as well. It's your right to ask and my right to ask for your asking to be not heeded.
