Solid favorites to reach the quarter final. 9 years ago they were playing in the second division in Norway, stadium capacity of 8000 and no rich uncle. Absolutely bonkers.

Well... This aged less than ideally.

You did say it would require Valverde generating something out of nothing...

Looking at the first goal in Real - City, it seems a bit weird that Donnarumma decided not to catch the ball. I guess early red card is pretty scary and it's a pretty unconventional situation in general, but the angle he's approaching seems very safe for staying inside.

I guess it's always easier when you're watching the replay from the safety of your home sofa, but it seems to me something a top tier goalie still should handle comfortably. I'd have much easier time understanding if he was diving more towards the edge of the box, but he's going almost sideways to it.

Donnarumma has saved city so many points this season - I think the first real big mistake is ok. even Neuer has sometimes screwed up in big games

The difference between a good goalkeeper like Donnarumma and a world-class goalkeeper like Henderson is knowing exactly how big the penalty area is...

I guess I could give a shot on today's round:

Leverkusen - Arsenal 0-1. From a corner. I have no idea if the UCL reffing makes a difference in the set piece meta, we'll see.

Bodo/Glimt - Sporting 3-1. The magic is still working. It's getting a bit warmer in the Nordic, but should still be a bit of an extra challenge for the Portuguese. Also Bodo/Glimt passing game is actually genuinely damn good at times.

PSG - Chelsea 1-1. Neither seems to be in that great form. Probably a bit underwhelming given the stature of the clubs.

Real Madrid - City. 0 - 2. We'll see how pragmatic Pep is this time, but the way Real plays especially without Mbabbe looks very exploitable. I could see City controlling this quite easily. Real's scoring chances depend quite a bit on Vini or Valverde generating something out of nothing.

Leverkusen - Arsenal: Almost right. And the corner was a penalty

Bodo - Sporting: Hell yea Bodo Glimt!! I think their fans over the last 2 years have grown by some ridiculous margin. Just gotta love the story arc

PSG - Chelsea: PSG finding their groove just in the nick of time it seems.

Real - City: First you did not respect Wombats law of never betting against Real. Second Valverde generating more somethings than anyone ever before

They can't keep getting away with it forever. Surely the last 10 times have been a fluke.

I had the game running on background half the time, but I think Real played well though. The traditional Real way has been to look underwhelming and then somehow find the necessary goal at 90+6 after the opponent hits the post twice. This time they were just plain better than City. The stats I'm checking give City total xG of 0.5.

Haha, I still wish it didn’t apply quite so often!

I wonder if Real actually benefit from having a few injuries as they don’t have to cram all these star players in and end up being a bit more functional

Hell yeah Bodo!

Maybe they're finding some groove now, but the previous La Liga matches without Mbappe have looked really dire. It's not that the he helps with the balancing act, but when you're completely disjointed anyway it's better to bring all the firepower to increase the odds that way at least.

One of the key issues in previous games has been that absolutely nobody makes any runs to break the defensive line. You end up in this absurd looking stalemate where someone from Real holds the ball and roughly 5 players from each team sit in a line just outside the penalty area and nothing moves anywhere. Against City they seemed to have pretty easy time breaking that line.

so bayern's 3 senior gk's are out with injuries while their best youth gk is also out, so it looks like they will be forced to start a 16 year old academy kid from america.

Forest look so much like a team going down this season.
We just can't score no matter what we do.

Yesterday we had a penalty given then disallowed for a foot offside.
A goal disallowed for a toenail offside
and a left footed volley from Aina hit the underside of the bar

in a 0-0 draw.

Nightmare lol. Haven't won in 7 matches.

Between Nuno, Ange and now Pereira they have won 1 match in the Premier League out of 12.
Only Dyche was actually winning games and we sacked him because the players didn't like running in training so they complained to the boss.
How Marinakis and especially Edu managed to fuck this club up so thoroughly and so quickly I have no idea.

Its okay you kinda sucked when you played us too.
The Premier League is so weird this season.
It seems to be a transitional season for like 2/3 of the teams.
Only United and Arsenal are at their peak.
