How is 70 points after 31 games poor? During the golden era of ManUtd many titles were won with 70-80 points - so was the league poor those years?

i said the league was poor, not arsenal. though i dont think arsenal have been dazzling this season anyway. theyve played better in previous seasons despite failing to ultimately win.

They've been very good defensively (lower conceded goals per game than your average PL champion), but their current average goals per game would be the third lowest in the past 20 years. So - not dazzling, but certainly solid. If they maintain their current average points per game they'll get 85.5 points - two less than the average for the champion, again, solid.

I agree that the arsenal from two years ago looked better than what they've looked this season, at least in the PL. Going 8-0-0 in the CL group stage was very impressive though.

Do we think any of the teams that lost the first leg with by more than 1 will make the comeback? City?
I'm not even sure Pool can overcome the 0:1 deficit. Gala playing decent and Pool still defending like amateurs.
Arsenal and Barca should advance by all accounts but you never know who is gonna throw

Man City and Liverpool, the teams you would expect to be aiming for 90 points, are both quite poor.

Arsenal are playing really well imo and have addressed their biggest problem, which was having the killer instinct and mental strength to get the win no matter what in most cases.

Pep's City and Klopp's Liverpool have made the impression that getting 90+ points is what to expect from PL champions...
That was totally ridiculous what the two were doing for years. I don't think the league is poor this year. It's just that many clubs are on similar strength plus similar fatigue imo

I don't think it's particularly controversial to suggest that Liverpool and City aren't doing as well this season tbh.
You just have to look at results/the table.
As they were the two top teams, that necessarily means that the level at top relative to everyone else has gone down a bit.

i dont expect them to be hitting 90 points every season.
but the reason i say the league is poor is because no other team in the league has looked like genuine contenders for at least half a season now, if not more. arsenal have been given a chance to run away with the league and they will, even if they arent playing at their best and with what i consider to be boring football by arsenals standards historically

Rosenborg reached the quarter finals in 96-97! They failed to replicate that!

The five game win streak vs City, Atletico, Inter 2x and Sporting is definitely far superior to anything Rosenborg managed in a single season though.

The CAF Appeal Board decided that in application of Article 84 of the Regulations of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Senegal National Team is declared to have forfeited the Final Match of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 (“the Match”), with the result of the Match being recorded as 3–0 in favour of the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF).

African players need to realise it's not just racism that makes European clubs ignore the African cup... It's just shambolic what is happening there in politics

CAF gonna CAF. Senegal has already appealed so now the CAS is going to look at it, which is a slightly less corrupt organisation. We'll see, but let's face it: walking off the field in protest over a penalty could very well be forfeit-worthy. That said, everything that happened was farcical. The ref whistling early to annul Senegal's goal. The extremely light touch that caused the penalty in the 98th effing minute. It was all ridiculous. But so was walking off for 15 min.

ManU does. They started late but they are the best team in the second half of the season with 2,18 points to Arsenals 2,08 points

Yeah they’ve somehow ended up in a worst of worlds scenario.

I’ve no issue with Senegal being made to forfeit at the time, but punishing them after the fact in this way isn’t going to make anyone happy.

I mean maybe some Moroccans will feel they won the thing, but I’d certainly find it very hollow and dissatisfying given they did lose on the field of play ultimately. They lose that moment

The Senegalese are not gonna acctept that decision, not matter how "official" it is. They won't give back the trophy either.

Crazy amount of goals yes. 10:2, 8:2, 8:3... average goals per match are 4,25 lol. League average is like 2,5
No surprises though who won in the end. On paper City/ Real could have gone either way the others had all clear favorites
