Come on, don't create hype where there isn't one. No one will take the title off Bayern. The only times Bayern haven't won the title the last 20 years is when they were off for whatever reasons: Bayern are in top form

Dortmund had a better record in the Bundesliga than Bayern over the previous 5 matches and hadn't lost since round 7. Wasn't a forgone conclusion imo. Probably too big a gap now though.

Delightful goal from Iwobi

I hate to say it, but yeah he’s right on this. Especially as he made a point to specify in a confrontational scenario. So players and coaching staff are still free to cover their mouths to pass on instructions, or in post-match scenarios where they don’t want their chats with others to be dissected by amateur lip-readers etc

Epic comeback battle by Barca, almost getting it done.
Even more epic save by Cody Gakpo. Wolves MVP. Sure was Wirtz's fault as always

Spurs are only one point above West Ham and Forest now

Surely it doesn't happen, does it?

Surely? Right? Perhaps you knowledgable folks may think of an example, I really can’t think of such a ‘big club’ going to their second division outside of financial implosion or a punishment for another infraction imposed by the relevant footballing authorities.

But with each matchweek it’s shifting from a ‘surely not?’ to a more and more realistic prospect. Tottenham may have been safe almost by default if West Ham and Forest had remained performing as they did earlier in the season, or even just one but that’s not the case lately. Nuno’s gradually got a tune out of the hammers, I think Dyche probably would have kept Forest up, but that change for Pereira I think makes it more likely. They’ve been quite decent in the games I’ve seen, indeed they were pretty damn unfortunate recently against Liverpool, Slot even conceded that was the case. And if Forest had won that, they’d have overhauled Spurs already, albeit they’d have a game in hand.

Spurs are crippled with injuries, that’s their number one problem really. But there isn’t a relegation get out of jail free card just because you have such an injury list.

For me, they’re just bad, and thus far Tudor hasn’t galvanised them in a way you can say some of the other coaching changes have brought elsewhere. But it’s early days and he does actually have a pretty damn good record at salvage jobs.

They strike me as a worst of all worlds team. They’re not boring, resolute and lacking a ton of goals, but able to grind out results. But neither are they flashy, with a soft underbelly but occasionally able to blow opponents away. On the former, I think Frank tried to do that, albeit I think as a first step or foundation to then build a more attractive side upon, he just didn’t do it very well. On the latter, that was Ange’s Spurs, at its best he would have got Spurs a CL spot for that fifth finish in subsequent years. Even at its worst (and also with an insane injury list), Angeball could still see Spurs blow away the odd team and even when they were in 17th they were still miles clear of the relegation zone.

I had a look at the respective run-ins and Spurs don’t have too bad a fixture list, but equally that’s on paper, on the pitch is another matter.

It’ll be damn tight anyway, we’re getting to the stage where fortune might swing it. Getting gifted an undeserved 3 points via refereeing fuckery, or being robbed could potentially come into play.

Would it be that much different to when Newcastle first went down?

I think so, perhaps not much but a little, although Newcastle (and some of the aforementioned) are big clubs as it were.

Spurs are up there in the rich lists, they’re spending money and they had tangible success not too long ago. When Newcastle went down it was after years of Ashley not investing much and gradual decline, partly why the fans were so enthusiastic about the Saudis

Whereas Spurs have been either consistently in or challenging to be in European competition season after season in a ruthlessly competitive league, and even won a European trophy in that span.

So it’d be a hell of a drop-off for them. When other traditionally big sides have gone done it’s often after years of mid-table mediocrity or worse

Spurs going down purely for footballing reasons would be the biggest relegation history in football history imo considering their club high (winning EL) last season, their stadium and budget

Also this must be such a big LOL from Ange

Same

Their final game of the season is at home against Everton. Imagine the scenes if they were confirmed going down at home on the final day

Everton might well have something to play for as well. Weird season they’re having, I barely notice them, they’re not much talked about but then you look at the table and they’re in with a shot for Europe somehow. Really sneaking under the radar!
