Argentina defeat was fun, but Spain plays today so I'm going to wait before laughing too much about Argentina.

(top capacity for any stadium in Norway right now is 28k) Otherwise a Scandinavian bid would be sweet! As others mentioned, the talk was more about the club ownership. However, on the Scandinavian or Nordic Euro / World Cup bid: One of the Qatar stadiums is supposedly built from some sort of portable cargo containers and can be disassembled, shipped across the world with relative ease and assembled somewhere else as necessary. I have my doubts on the Qatari implementation of things considering how shaky the overall organization seems, but the idea still sounds interesting. Maybe some ingenious Nordic engineering could actually figure out a succesful way of doing that. You let the Swedes design it and the whole stadium will be easy to assemble with handful of Allen keys. Edit: Ingenious, not ingenuine. English hard.

A stadium that can be disassembled, shipped around and reassembled.... sounds a lot like a circus. ![]() Not being an engineer nor an architect, it still sounds to me like all those amazing container house ideas that in the end end up costing more than building a house from scratch.

Yeah, at the very least there's definitely a lot of trial and error with such project. Still, I like it as one way to expand the list of potential World Cup hosts past the few countries with sufficient stadiums and the shady sort of hosts that can commit to massive building projects without much regard to all the concerns over human rights, environment and all that. It's not just football either, portable buildings can help in all kinds of massive events and maybe there's even use for portable hospitals and such.

There have been 2 before. 2026 will have 3. What about 4 Scandinavian countries doing a joint bid?

They'd still have to build a lot of stadiums as there are only two over 40k currently. Not to mention the minimum requirement for QF is 60k and finals is 80k. I think joint bids are the future, otherwise the cup is always going to be hosted by the same big countries. Know what would be fun? A Greece + Turkey joint bid. Both countries have a deserving football culture and maybe they could finally get along?

If you want it to be anywhere outside of NA/Europe and not in somewhere like Qatar joint bids seem the only way to go moving forwards. There aren’t that many places around that can accommodate the full FIFA circus solo anymore
