It's better than many others have done, but it's not really that spectacular either. As far as I can tell, he still has a pretty underwhelming record against the top tier teams. His biggest achievement was taking the team from where it was when he took over (missing out on competitions because they couldn't beat teams like Iceland) to being ranked very highly and getting very deep into major tournaments. Its day and night. Its just a shame fans have such short memories. It won't take much to get us back to where we were.

He goes after the world cup unless he wins it, im sure the FA are just to "scared" to sack him because of the semi final into final of euros run he has been on and want to give him as much time as possible out of that mentality, but in reality he should be gone today and we have someone else in place for the world cup. He plays Luke Shaw over Chilwell who doesn't make the 23 after naming a 28 man squad, having 2 of those bench spots as keepers??? He played and called Sancho up to England squad for 18 months to then when he is in the form of his life not to pick him in a 28 man squad at all lol. Refuses to make any changes to the team until he goes 1 goal behind is also a big problem, foden having a stinker yesterday and played 90 minutes, playing Saka who plays right wing for Arsenal as Left Wingback is also questionable.

I have mixed feelings about the current german team. The performance against hungary wasnt that bad (ok, the 2nd half at least, which was the only one I saw live). Imo there were countless good ideas offensively, which I consider a very good, sign since often in the past this been a major issue. It's just that the execution/precision was completely awful. If there were the usual 2-3 full weeks of preparation before the world cup, I would be very optimistic that during this time, the players from different clubs manage to better sync with each other, which often (ofc not always) was one of the major strengths of german teams. The problem was that defensively they looked very vulnerable on the counter. So I could see this shaping up to once again become a 2014/2018 style team that can crush the spirit of even good teams if things go right, but at the same time struggle against anyone if they dont score early.

I think the issue is that the Bayern Munich stars are all out of form and not performing at all. Relying on them when they cant even win against fucking Augsburg (especially Müller, Gnabry, Sane) is not a good plan. And I still dont know why Timo Werner is even considered to play for "die Mannschaft" right now.

Edit: Hungary leading a group with Italy, Germany and England in it. That's also pretty amazing. Looking at their squad, I see 3 RB leipzig players, 1 Union Berlin player, and the rest being in second tier leagues.

In the less headline news: Finland is a man up vs Montenegro, on Montenegro's waterlogged home turf. With a win we'd keep a chance for a spot in the playoffs and possible Euros qualification that way, but with a loss we're atm headed to the C-division. To quote a certain Scotsman: "It's squeeky bum time"

How fuck they manage to do that lol awful from Pope but still what on earth! On September 27 2022 05:58 mahrgell wrote: Wow Pande, I would have never believed you accepting B-Tier as Englands home. Well in that 10 minute spell when we scored 3 we actually looked ok again and that would have been big momentum but now its all gone again and its depressing xd From a selfish chelsea perspective chelsea players played well. King kai scoring 2 and mount, james looked good. Sterling looked like he needed a rest though.

How stupid is this? There is no preparation for the national teams before the world cup? wtf? The weeks leading to the tournament are the most important... If they have no time for that why didnt they just skip these two weeks of fixtures of nation league/friendlies and moved them before the world cup? Then the players could stay together for almost a month before the competition would start.

The Argentinian players have said that they're going to ask to not play in their club games the week before the world cup. Yeah its really really dumb and Saudi Arabia wants to host a world cup coming up despite it.
