Interesting calls on Atletico - Liverpool.

Atletico got a soft(ish) penalty call on contact while two players were chasing a cross. Ref gets called to check out the replay and he reverts the decision. Having the benefit of the replay, I'd say it's not a heavy enough contact for a penalty, so it's a good call. Then again it's not by any means the 'clear and obvious error' we are used to seeing.

I don't know really. I'd really prefer the call not to be given, since it looks soft. Then again the I kind of understand why they're careful with the 'clear and obvious error' stuff. Now they're opening up another can of worms.

I guess the good thing is that the ref went to check and made a call. It definitely feels more transparent and tangible than the call being made by someone sitting in the VAR room itself.

Overall I think Liverpool got a bit lucky with the ref. All the big calls made sense on their own and are understandable and probably even the best calls in isolated cases to me, but it's still pretty rare to see things line up so well for one team over the other.
