Buying Haaland has taken Man City's net transfer spend to over £1bn in just 10 years. Liverpool's net spend in the same time is £347m. To be within 1 point in the league and knock city out of the FA Cup is an incredible achievement. If City had Klopp in charge they'd be winning the quadruple every year. As it is it's the red army preparing for yet another Champions league final while city's pampered millionaires hit the beach.

Damn...

The new owners also will not be permitted to take dividends or management fees or load the team with debt — terms that bankers related to the sale have described as “anti-Glazer clauses,” a reference to the unpopular owners of Manchester United who took control of the club in a leveraged buyout in 2005.

Several people close to the process said Boehly’s bid was eventually selected from the group of wealthy suitors because of its willingness to abide by the clauses. (At least one of those people, who worked on the bid backed by Pagliuca, said their group withdrew from the running because of the nature of the conditions.)

The Premier League has already signed off on the Chelsea sale, announcing Tuesday that it had vetted and approved the new owners “subject to the government issuing the required sale license and the satisfactory completion of final stages of the transaction.”

It is not clear, though, quite what will happen if Boehly and his partners choose to renege on any of the conditions once they have control of the club. Any oversight role will fall on the charity, the only outside entity still inextricably linked to both Chelsea and Abramovich, or the continued influence of two key Abramovich lieutenants who hope to remain in their posts under the new owners.

Both of those executives — the club chairman Bruce Buck and Marina Granovskaia, a Russian-born businesswoman who rose from being Abramovich’s personal assistant to the most senior official response for soccer trades at Chelsea — will earn at least $12.5 million for their work on the sale. The commissions to management, totaling as much as $50 million, and the fee to Ravitch, believed to be between 0.5 and 1 percent of the deal’s value, will be paid from the club’s balance sheet and not from the sale funds, according to a person familiar with the structure of the deal.

In principle the 'anti-Glazer' clauses sound good, but won't those make it so that the big clubs are even more likely to be bought by sports-washers of some variety? Investors looking to make money off of football clubs have at least some incentives to keep costs in check, but sovereign wealth funds or similar (City, Newcastle, PSG) can just keep throwing money at their club, further contributing to the madness that the football economy has become.

We have had this discussion before im sure, the English commentary is always bias to people they know. They know Tammy, they know Mourinho and like Mourinho a lot in England.....They don't know Feyernoord or their players because they are not switched on with football outside of England, its simple as that.

Also that was Mourinho masterclass if i ever saw one lol, dull boring 1-0 with time wasting to the extreme from the 80th minute....watching them run down the line to corner flag as the 80th minute comes up is insane lol.

Mourinho is now the joint most successful manager in European history with 5 major european trophies (they count conference league as major trophy i guess) He has played 5 finals in europe and won all 5!

True, their back line was brilliant, Feyenoord couldn't create enough chances. But still, no love from me for a team that just defends the 1-0.

North America needs to take referring seriously and professionalize them like they should be. There is a massive and growing shortage of referees and linespeople yet nothing is done.

No one is going to take the us open cup seriously until the USSF raises the standards to at least MLS level standard of officiating.

Don't think anyone saw this coming.
Although IIRC his wife is from Manchester and probably wants to raise his family in England.

Lol haha! Also its crazy he leaves Anderlecht for championship, its a very hard league to get out of and Burnley have 0 money. Going to take some serious coaching to get them back up imo so good luck to Kompany.

Would be fun to have Arteta, Gerrard, Lampard and Kompany facing each other regularly. Add Rooney and you've got a pretty decent set of club icons battling it out. Can we find someone from Spurs to represent them?

Do you count Scott Parker as a Spurs icon?

Yeah, it definitely makes plenty of sense on paper. Arteta probably also knows something on how City likes to do their transfers, so I could see this happening quite alright.

Gabriel Jesus is also rumored for Arsenal. I guess he's not going to be in City opening 11 with Haaland there, so he could be reasonable business too. Together with Zinchenko that's a lot of money though, but still seems decent business considering Arteta knows the players beforehand.

Ok lots of bets on for tonights champs league final! hopefully it follows suit with real madrid games and lots of goals!!

In bigger and more important news though, Roman Abramovich has announced he has sold the club and Boehly will be in charge on Monday.

Gabriel Jesus would be a horrible signing for Arsenal. They need someone who scores goals, they have enough creativity in all other positions
