Amusingly he has started all 3 games (getting subbed late in each).
Meanwhile in the Ligue1, he hasn't started a single game yet, getting subbed in 9 times though (playing like 15 minutes on average), and scored one goal in total.

For the sake of the league’s competitiveness I’m quite happy that it is the case but it seems the likes of Hasenhuttl, Rodgers and Poch lurking with the shadows there’s quite a lot of exciting coaching talent that I’m surprised the big boys aren’t sniffing around.

Whenever they're looking like he's gonna get fired with another bad result, they play a great sequence of games. Whenever they give off the impression that hey, they've been looking real solid for a good while now, they have a couple terrible games.

He's half a meter onside but he's pointing with his arm, and his hand/arm (parts of his body he would never be allowed to score with) is offside. (I'm hearing the argument is that his arm is so protruded that he could have legally scored with about 1 cm of the lower shoulder-part of his arm, and that this is why it was called. But even then I have a hard time seeing it. )

Whenever they give off the impression that hey, they've been looking real solid for a good while now, they have a couple terrible games. yeah im sick of the inconsistency. always giving me hope and letting me down The thing with United is they're not even particularly inconsistent, there's a clear pattern to how their results tend to go. For a long, long time now. Sure individual results may be surprising and vary but Ole can set them up well against other big teams that have an expectation of having a lot of the ball, and cannot set them up very well against teams in which United are expected to have the initiative. By and large anyway. I think there's more than enough evidence that Ole was a good fit as a caretaker, has been good at bringing on some of the young talent at his exposure, but United will remain pretty stagnant at their current kind of level if he remains the manager. Not all managers will be good at all clubs, or at all times. Ole by virtue of his legend status as well as how he is as a man was a really good fit to rebuild morale and keep the youth development going. He should never have been hired permanently, certainly not at the time he was anyway. Give him until the end of that season and see how he does, there was NO pressure whatsoever to hire him permanently at that time, Ole would have been happy continuing as a caretaker. I don't think, for example that Zinedine Zidane would do particularly well at a lot of clubs, but for that Real squad his combination of legend status and not being absolutely terrible tactically was a perfect fit and you see the results. Ole is a good caretaker of that particular club and is good at developing young players and keeping morale up. He is just not the manager to push beyond that ceiling. The United board don't seem to at all work on this obvious, obvious long-term trend basis and seem to just knee-jerk react to a few results.

But being a striker his entire career, he never developed the same type of intelligent defensive movement. I kinda feel like the ideal position for him is that of a coach responsible for developing young strikers. And if he has a manager position like the one he has now, it would seem wise to delegate more responsibility for developing the defense to some other, more capable person. (Which might well be happening now anyway. )
