That is what most people are wondering. I believe he will most likely play instead of Matic, which would leave them very weak defensively as neither Pogba nor VdB strike me as your typical 6.

In reality, he is the "weaker" of the 3 in terms of he isn't better than either of them offensively, but he has a good all round game. Van de Beek, not to be confused with actor, name ending Van der Beek, + Show Spoiler + known for shows such as Dawsons Creek :p

Bruno has been no.10 since joining so he won't be sitting in midfield, most likely VDB will be backup for Pogba or play Matic's role which I'm not sure how it will work.

I'm guessing he'll have to compete with Pogba/Fernandes for starting positions and my guess, with the season being very busy, Solkskjaer might rotate a lot. I see him asa Lampard type but with maybe not the same passing ability and a bit better on the ball (ceiling wise, not there yet) . I doubt he starts though, seems more like a rotate signing as you said.

Lionel Messi has agreed financial terms worth €700M over the course of five years with City Football Group. Messi is expected to spend three seasons at #ManCity before moving to New York City FC. In addition, Messi has also been offered an equity stake in CFG.

This was the perfect example for "you can do whatever you want, there wont be punishment if you have good lawyers". So buying Messi is the logical next step.

Not sure playing Messi massive amount would break it, if they can generate more income by having him on the team. This just show the absurd money footballers earn.
