Another positive note, Germany left back Gosens (who almost made UCL semis with Atalanta Bergamo) didn't know him being behind the line meant the Spanish player was onside when Spain scored the 1-1 Also not happy with Löw doing 3 defensive changes after the 1-0.

+ Show Spoiler + NATIONAL LEAGUE OF PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL Mr. Javier Tebas Medrano President Barcelona, September 4, 2020 Mr. Jorge Horacio Messi, as representative of the professional soccer player, Mr. Lionel Andrés Messi, in response to the Informative Note published on August 30, 2020 by La Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional, in relation to the player's contractual situation, and apart from its obvious partiality for the role that such institution represents, in defense of the interests of its associates (football clubs), I must state that: 18.- We do not know which contract is the one that they have analyzed, and what are the bases on which they conclude that it would have a "termination clause" applicable in case the player decides to urge the unilateral termination of the same, with effects from the end of the 2019/2020 sports season. 29.- This is due to an obvious error on your part. Thus, as literally stated in clause 8.2.3.6. of the contract signed between the club and the player, "This compensation will not apply when the termination of the contract by unilateral decision of the player takes effect from the end of the 2019-2020 sports season." Without prejudice to other rights that are included in the contract and that you omit, it is obvious that the compensation of 700 million euros, provided for in the previous clause 8.2.3.5, does not apply at all.

"I told to the club, to the president in particular, that I wanted to leave. They know this since the start of the past season. I told them during all last 12 months. But I will stay here because I don't want to start a legal war". "The truth is that there is no project at this club. They just plug holes as and when things happen. I would never go for a war against the club of my life. That's why I'm staying". "Bartomeu told me that the only way to leave was to pay the €700M clause - that's impossible. But at the end of the season, the same Bartomeu said it was 'my decision'... he didn't kept his promise". When I communicated my wish to leave to my wife, it was a brutal drama. The whole family began crying, my children did not want to leave Barcelona. But I've been telling the president & the club that I want to leave all year long!". Source

“I wasn't happy and I wanted to leave. I have not been allowed to leave in any way, and I will STAY at the club so that I do not get into a legal dispute. The management of the club led by Bartomeu is a disaster" "The truth is that there is no project at this club. They just plug holes as and when things happen. I would never go for a war against the club of my life. That's why I'm staying". "Bartomeu told me that the only way to leave was to pay the €700M clause - that's impossible. But at the end of the season, the same Bartomeu said it was 'my decision'... he didn't kept his promise". lol, he went all-in against the president. This season is going to be spicy at the club.

I don't think Leverkusen would settle for less than €80 million + bonuses.

Terrible from Barto and the board really. Why not settle for a chunky fee well south of the release clause? If he goes for say, Neymar money or even the ‘mere’ fee it took to get Ronaldo to Juve. I mean having Messi leave on your watch is pretty bad for your rep, but it seems like this way you’ll just have a pissed off Messi for a year and having him actually leave for free?
