Fx the false 9, and Backs that turn into controlling midfielders when Attacking. Pirlo is less of a club man, having played for AC and Inter Milan also. So i agree he has more influence then Pep. But think his role as deep midfielder will make his team much more organiser than Zidane's. Pirlo is a good creative deep lying midfielder, I don’t think it necessarily means his teams can do that in beautiful style. I think one of the mistakes people make is transmuting a player’s characteristics onto them as a coach. Pep was a pretty functional midfielder, someone like Pochettino was a good centre back.

Liverpool apparently are close to signing Tsimikas from Olympiakos as backup for the LB position. Anyone knows more about this guy? Kind of a surprise signing for me.

How sad would it be if coutinho wins CL with Bayern while barca wait quite a while now? Sad for whom? If he wins, good for him and probably good for Barça who could sell him for more if he plays and looks good. Obviously I want Barça to win that tie, but if it proves impossible, I wouldn't mind Coutinho sticking it to Bartomeu somehow haha

Says alot "how bad top scorers" are in k.o. games but they are very good in groupstages. Van Nistelrooy only scored 6 in k.o. games of his 56 goals.

You also have to be at clubs in that consistently make the knockout stages too. It’s worth noting that the CL also had a second group stage for a fair period, with often quite stacked groups in the round of 16! So players who were at their peak in that span had a fair few seasons under that format. Plus of course in the European Cup days every match was a knockout game. Quite annoyed my local bar isn’t showing the Inter match. I know United are the bigger draw. They used to show multiple matches but apparently don’t do that in this post-lockdown world Less confident we’ll go through with Havertz playing, thought he was sitting out the European games then realised it was Werner who was doing that!

Can’t think of many players better with both feet either, outside of Santi Cazorla anyway. Opens up extra options for you and gives opposition defenders that little bit more to think about.

I like how Thomas Müller is on that list, not the one you would suspect the most I think.
