It feels like Chelsea in general is trying to improve the long term sustainability. The stadium expansion is probably still considered and now they've got the long term interest of US market secured.

I hope Sarri can take Pulisic onto the next level quickly during next season as we will need it. He had shown great potential but never really pushed on after some excellent spells. Hopefully now with a world class coach he can get to that next level as i think that has been what is missing from his career so far, he hasn't had that world class coach. Also the Nike deal and a top Nike USA athlete seems a bit of a key thing here too. Bit of a business fallback as well.

I'm a bit surprised that Chelsea are loaning him back to Dortmund for the rest of the season. Maybe Dortmund wanted to have him as rotation player and gave up on some other benefits there to have him around, but as it stands he's probably getting similar match experience in both the clubs. In that sense he might as well move over and start adapting to Sarri system and life in London already.

Chelsea had no choice in that regard, Dortmund made it clear that Pulisic is going to stay until summer because Dortmund is still playing in all competitions. If Chelsea had waited until summer then they might have had to deal with other bidders, so possibly a higher transfer fee or higher salary or signing fee, the usual. @Pande If I remember correctly Pulisic played a season under Tuchel, a coach so great he made Mkhitaryan(?) look like a god.

Yeah when you pay so much for a player it would seem to mean they want him now not later, but alas Chelsea are strange xd On January 03 2019 00:16 TheNewEra wrote: Also If they would have waited until summer there would have been the risk of the potential transfer ban starting at that transfer window Transfer ban will not be happening in the Summer, it will be for a winter window if it goes through. By time FIFA tell us we banned and then we appeal it, it will be like October xd

Though not sure if he's more Solskjaer or Macheda edit: i'm really a big fan of how he's using Linderlof and other CBs for the past couple of games. Mourinho wants his CBs to be more passive which is not their strength (barring perhaps Smalling). Both Lindelof and Bailly play a much more aggressive style of defense where they try to predict and intercept key passes rather than "curtaining" the box.
