Kroos looks poor, Modric (the best player in the world by the way) looks lost. The back 4 like i said are all bang average at defending but good for Madrid normally because they never normally defend that much / outscore their opponents always. Offensive options is the worst part though, they have huge holes going forward they need so many new faces and the summer window were awful.

Why would anyone want to go to Madrid right now? At this rate they won't get top 4 in the league and will be just offering big money with a big name behind them.

Ok last part is bit extreme, but Real Madrid not in Europe is just madness or even worst in Europa league.

I expected this Real Madrid season to be bad in liga. They had a terrible liga season last year and this one they don't have Cristiano and Kovacic. And everyone is older.

But I didn't expect them to fail so much.

i dont care if modric wins the ballon dor as well, hes still not the best

also man utd was in the same position once, missing out on europe. real madrids brand alone will allow them to cope. players will still come if they feel rm will bounce back

It's interesting to see what happens on the winter transfer window.

Who are the players that are supposed to be the bedrock for the next RM lineup? Before the season I would have named Casemiro, Varane, Isco and maybe Asensio, but right now I just don't know.

Probably the first thing is getting someone who scores goals and stays healthy though. Any idea who is available on the market?

Yeah the Modric winning all top football awards was just stupid, he is amazing player for sure, but Messi and Ronaldo are still shoulders above them due to sheer number of goals and games they change. Yes Modric did well with Croatia at the world cup but that can't be "big enough" to be claimed best player on the planet?

Also i agree that the winter window for Real Madrid needs to bring in 1 world class player for Forwards, Midfield and Defense at least.

real madrid is still real madrid. they have no problems recovering from a bad season, even if it's a really really bad season - assuming they start making better choice, of course.

I expect Barca to be bad tonight as well. Both teams are not good after international break. Good chance for Atletico to take the lead.
Speaking of bad teams, Bayern just conceded in the last minute vs Dusseldorf for a draw.

dortmund being #1 9 points ahead of bayern already is pretty amazing.

aand, I just looked at paco alcacer's stats.. 9 goals in 236 minutes of playtime. I mean, it's not a big enough sample size to be really meaningful, but it's still a pretty damn amazing start of the season.

Lol stinker of a half. But this ref is rubbish too lol. I didn't think first goal was a free kick, or at least its a soft one. Both penalty shouts should have gone our way. But doesn't take away the fact that we're playing poorly.....

Jorginho without possession is a huge liability actually. I kinda wish if kante was groomed to do the jorginho role....

Kante can be clumsy and his passing ability is limited. Hes not bad by any means, but hes not world class Jorginho on the ball atleast is. Jorginho reminds of Xabi Alonso alot.

I agree today Jorginho seems to be a step behind and when players like that (and this happened to Xabi Alonso ALOT) fall behind the pace they are just fishing for cards all game because they are just late to everything but will still make the challenges.

And perhaps against top Teams Kante in the holding role might be the better option..

I'm not entirely sure because of low quality and can't pause twitter video at right moment, but it looks to me like the sole of the defenders foot clips the attackers shoe before he ever plays the ball / attacker steps on his leg. That would make it a penalty.
