Hands up all those who had the Atlantic Division as the #1 division in the NBA at the quarter-pole... Kyle Lowry has taken more offensive charges than 10 NBA teams this year. He took another beating again tonight.. an elbow to the jaw from a guy that outweighs him by about 100 lbs. I'm surprised Lowry still has more than 20 teeth. I always get a laugh out of these self-appointed "experts" who qualify any of their Raptors predictions with "if Lowry stays healthy"... he is rarely healthy. he is probably one of the top 3 3-point shooters in the league during the rare time periods when all of his right shoulder , elbow, wrist , and hand are all healthy at the same time.... which is a rare occurrence

and Jones has earned it. Jones has improved a lot the last 2 years... it would not surprise me if, by this time next year, Jones is as good as Teague. it'll create a lot of options for Thibodeau. there is a lot of doom and gloom about Minnesota's long term future with the claim they've painted themselves into a corner with their contracts. i don't think things are that bad. On December 01 2017 01:02 JimmiC wrote: Lowry is a beast, always puts his body on the line and plays through pain. It tends to leave em broken down by playoff time but man is he fun to watch. People under rate him and Derozen all the time (the analytics community really hates DD because he mainly just scores and does it mid range" But their supporting cast keeps changing, or is not that good and the raps keep pumpin out 50 win seasons. This year, the Raptors have one of the best benches in the NBA. i think the analytics have pretty much nailed down Lowry and Derozan correctly. Lowry is a top 8 PG in the NBA while Derozan is average or maybe slightly below average. Derozan's primary weakness is his defense. Derozan as an offensive player is above average due to his play making and shooting. Now, I have to agree with RowdierBob's original assessment he made when Derozan signed his big deal. The monster contract has become a poison pill for the Raptors. At the time of the big deal i thought DD's defense would improve at the same rate his offense has improved . After signing the deal, that has not happened. DD's offense continued to incrementally improve every year and even every month. Unfortunately, his defense has remained the same. DD sometimes creates enough offense to make up for his below average defense. And, sometimes he does not. Contrast this with Lowry. He has a positive impact on both ends of the floor night in and night out. I wish i had been right about Derozan years ago and RowdierBob had been wrong... oh well.

And you know how tight Lowry and DDR are - they let DeMar walk and Lowry is probably gone too. Then Toronto is really screwed.

after Gay got traded DDR and Lowry became inseparable as friends and their offensive productivity skyrocketed at the same time. They both grew together. prolly friends for life.

https://vimeo.com/243987003 -their starting lineup producing about as well as the league's 6th best offense isn't good enough -last in passes per game -more ISO than any other team -they run some good screens coming out of time-outs when Donovan can set up a play... they need more of that. Why do you say "Bill Laimbeer was awesome" when all I see is a dirty player who deliberately injured superstars in a league that has not yet cleaned up on professionalism and refereeing was bad. In today's standard, Laimbeer would be not only banned, he would be in jail. i like Bill Laimbeer for the same reasons i like Larry Robinson, the Broad Street Bullies, the John-Madden-Oakland-Raiders, and Al Davis... "fear is a weapon for our defense ...in the first 5 plays their QB must go down .. and he must go down hard" i'm a "by any means necessary" type of guy.

Many, many defensive metrics indicate DD isn't good on defense. Plus I watch the games. Out of all Toronto guards DD is the worst. Want to see some decent defense from a SG? try watching Wright or Powell. Out of Lowry, Wright ( when he plays guard), Van Vleet, Powell, and DD.. DD is the worst. Here is DD's on/off... it ain't good. i've got lots more where that came from. In fact even though patterson and other people you were pumpin up based on that were traded and their numbers fell off a cliff. Showing it had more to do with situation then personal impact. PPat's #s started falling last year when he hurt his knee. they've continued to remain low as he struggles with a bad knee. His decline in #s started long before he left the Raptors.

I didn't say DD is good at defense, great argument of umm... ???? you might want to try reading the words that are written for what they say, not what you assume they say. what r u trying to say? u stated i only go by 1 stat. u got a 2nd stat. as for the rest of it... My assessment of Derozan is independent of whatever it is you are saying about the guy. Demar Derozan is a below average defender and the worst guard Toronto has for defense. That's from my direct observation. It is easy to observe directly because its not close. Various defense metrics indicate DD is a below average guard on defense. I use RPM because its expressed quickly in 1 number. However, you can look at the 5 most used Metrics and then go to 82games.com and see what the defensive rating is for all of the 5 man lineups Derozan is part of.
