He tends to make easy saves look spectacular. So a lot of his 'good' performances are actually nothing special. Many goals that he concede though are quite easy to save at top level. Sure he doesn't make as many costly mistakes, but there was never a moment that you feel you can count on him.

To me it really looked like the Liverpool players themselves had kinda bought into the 'hey, Salah has been so great this season that maybe he can shoot them to an underdog victory' narrative (which was a fair narrative!), but then as Liverpool's hope ends up being represented by him, that also means that losing him means losing hope. Until he got injured, they seemed to have a fair chance. but after it happened the entire team seemed to play worse, stopped trying to string together attacks.. good job real madrid. they're not playing mindblowingly beautiful football, but they have a lot of different strings and they seemingly never play a bad game when it's important, and a lot of guys seem to really show up when it is.

Without 2 goalkeepers' mistakes, the score is 1-1 and only the huge chance for Isco on the crossbar comes to mind when I think of other big opportunities. Real is just too lucky. Yeah I feel Madrid kinda lucked out on this win but they probably were the better team.

I think Klopp got it tactically wrong a bit but in saying that losing Salah really kills our attack. Hopefully we invest in a decent keeper now. I don't think that dragging someone down to the ground and rolling over them is "just something that happens", even if Ramos didn't specifically mean to injure him. Ramos has been a dirty piece of shit for most of his career and gets away with it because of referee favoritism for his club. Dude I'm not disputing the issues with the current refereeing system in football as a whole, I'm just opposed to the idea that Real Marid's achievements, or any team for that matter, were purely the result of ref bias. Let's not forget that they didn't just win one season, but 4 out of the previous 5. During that period they won the domestic league one and came second on two occasions, both of which they were 1 to 2 points short from winning the titles (Barca won those years btw). I'm far from a Madrid's fan myself (though I do hate Liverpool with a passion) but I just simply can't discredit those stats and results with a simple "but the ref wasn't fair". The refs haven't handed every game to Madrid, but they have given them key games in certain campaigns. Case in point, Madrid vs. Bayern last year. Off the top of my head, multiple offsides goals for Madrid and some BS red cards/no red cards that ended up hurting Bayern? This is just one example of several. Madrid is a very good team. In certain seasons, they've clearly been the best team in Europe. But if refereeing decisions were correct, they would not have 4 out of the last 5 CL trophies. Maybe multiple, but not 4 out of 5. Not only that, but this team simply doesn't deserve the kind of respect that other sports dynasties do. A combination of an extremely non-competitive financial system and referee bias makes what Madrid does nowhere near as difficult as what dynasties in American (or other) sports do.

To give an idea, Real won 7 CL since the 90's and only 1 Liga on those years, never winning the treble. They also won only 2 of the last 10 Ligas. In comparison, Barça won 5 CL, won the 5 Ligas on those years, 2 trebles, and 7 of the last 10 Ligas. So call me biased, but it's hard for me to believe Real is the best team in the world when they end up 3rd of their league and 17 points behind the first. The CL doesn't reward the best team, it rewards great teams that have some kind of added luck on their side. Is Liverpool the 2nd best team in the world? Roma top4? Monaco top4 last year? As for Zidane, it's just crazy. In January, he decided to put all his eggs in the same basket and not sign any player just to focus on the CL, and it paid off. Now he's a legend, but if they got eliminated earlier, what would have people said? I'm not saying he's a bad manager, far from it, but maybe we should chill a little before calling him the greatest. After all, he's in the perfect situation: he's been in Madrid for almost 20 years and he has a fantastic roster that had already won a CL. I remember some people were saying Pep needed to show his skills in another team before calling him anything, but Zidane goes to #1 like that :p

4th in England vs 3rd in Spain probablly wasn't a meeting of the two best clubs in the world as much as Real fans will declare themselves excatly that. You absolutely have to hand it to Real for playing poorly in every game and still managing to win. That really is the sign of a good team. It's also an easy observation to notice how much Liverpool now depend on Salah and look like half the team without him. What's next for Zidance if he hadn't won the CL he would be sacked but he has. So I guess he's a leggend? I'll leave that one for Madrid fans to answer. An idea for Deschamps. Maybe he should put Benzema in his squad and play him only against Germany. The german keepers quite often shit the bed when he is around.
