I don't really get why people are in a huff over the salary. Normally a player of his quality would have a contract and a huge buyout clause. Whatever team wanted him would have to fork over 50million+ to his club to buy out his contract. Because he ended his contract with Barça, that money doesn't have to be paid... so taking part of that as a "bonus" in the way of higher wages seems natural.

Of course, the fact that these amounts of money are involved in player transfers at all is completely absurd, but that's the way it is right now. Until FIFA finds a way of regulating the amount of money in a more meaningful way than Financial Fair Play, it's there to stay. And as long as the TV rights continue to get sold for more and more money, that money will keep coming. Rakuten doesn't sponsor Barça because they like the club so much. They do that, because being associated with Barça gives them a massive boost in brandname recognition, and positive associations in much of Europe.

Chelsea need a point from today's game to have any real chance of UCL, right? Otherwise it goes to goal differences at best and both Spurs and Pool are doing significantly better there.

yea. and if they only get a draw while tottenham wins then tottenham is certain of top 4, and final game chelsea has to win while liverpool has to lose the final one.

Current results make bottom 3 pretty much set in stone - Stoke, WBA and Swansea going down. (unless Swansea wins by 5 goals and Southampton loses by 4, or whatever).

Also, City broke the goal record and the point record - unless brighton equalizes. (in which case they only tie the point record.

This Huddersfield Chelsea game is has devolved into the biggest scrap ive seen in a while. 25 mins of under 9's footy. Hilarious goal mouth scrambles. The very best that comes of relegation scraps. Once in a while is ok but more than that I would probably kms.

City adding some distance to the records.

Lee Mason is actually a joke what a terrible performance, referee's are just terrible. Minus the fact Willian is fouled before they even scored there only counter/chance he didn't book anyone for time wasting and nothing was a foul. Waited until 90th minute to book the keeper who was time wasting since minute 1 as the commentators mentioned from the start.

We have corned on 46th 40seconds and willian walking over to take it and he blows for half time at exactly 47th minute even though Chelsea are technically attacking nor did he rush Willian who didn't know cuz he can't see the time left what is going on.

The best ref in England by a mile is Michael Oliver and he is never given good games at all, FA are just so stupid with their assignments for games, give the shit refs the games that do not matter, not the most important ones.

I also don't want to start on Conte but the guy is just asking to be sacked, rested the best players for this game because we have Newcastle in 4 days time after a 2 (3rd day today) rest after Scouse game which we won on a high? Actually beyond me that one.

I just find it interesting how all it took for Wenger to step down was for our fans to stop coming to home games. So much for all the crap spewed by AFTV for god knows how long.

Like, I understand the pros and cons of such channels but in my opinion it will always be a stain on this club.

I just hope whoever comes in, the club supports properly. Not "here you go, take this 50 million and do whatever you want with it", because we will just end up 4-6th...where we belong considering the quality of this team and wage bill.

I moan about the ref but i don't blame him for our draw just find it infuriating how we continue to get the low level refs in a game which is involving a side battling for relegation and a side battling for top 4 spot. It wasn't the reason we drew but sure didn't help any situation
