Then the game would have been 2-1. Then they would need to score 1 and concede 0 to qualify. But, sorry boys, UEFA is not on your sides and here get a yellow card just to make it even more impossible. Ah, and Barca dives and referees favouring them even in Chelsea's home also helped them bits. Of course it wasn't as disgraceful as that past scandal, but still cheat.

Please, can you stop talking about cheating every fucking match. It is so annoying.

Have you ever think that sometimes referees have mistakes (like players or coaches) and that every match is not a cheating conspiration?

A broken clock is right twice a day.

Not to say that the ref deliberately worked for Barca in the match, but you're delusional if you don't recognize the clear bias towards Barca there and in countless other instances. I 100% guarantee that would have been a PK if it had been for Barca.
A sound mind in a sound body, is a short, but full description of a happy state in this World: he that has these two, has little more to wish for; and he that wants either of them, will be little the better for anything else.

But I considerer cheating "deliberately fixing the match". Of course referees have bias often for big clubs or home clubs.

Clear is a strong word, I think if you were to average it, between teams at the elite level it evens out, but no one wants to bother doing that because whatever feeds into the narrative we want to believe we acknowledge.

If people started habitually complaining about calls Barca dont get maybe the narrative would shift a little.. I dont know..

I think the UCL round of 8 looks really strong this year. Sevilla and Roma are maybe expected to be a bit weaker than the rest and Liverpool can go from horrid to brilliant and back in a moment, but I don't think there will be any clear walk overs this year. Should be 4 exiting matchups.

I could show you countless posts of Barca fanboys complaining they dont calls when they lose a game, on teamliquid. It just happens rarely because Barca doesn't lose as much as other teams.

Vs Inter in Italy in 2010, and against Bayern in the 4-0, are two good examples where Barça got screwed but people didn't talk about it. Barça these last years haven't lost that much because they're usually superior enough to compensate for whatever injustice the referee would throw at them. At the very top level, where teams are at a similar level, a referee mistake can cost you the game, but on average, when you're doing everything you can on the pitch, you are rarely losing the game just because of the referee. There are obviously extreme cases (the f'in disgrace) but to say they are the fruit of a conspiracy is ridiculous.

I do agree that some referees might feel more pressured to make a decision against big teams like Barcelona, but that pressure isn't coming only from the club, it's from the lack of support referees get from the leagues/UEFA when things go bad. Nowadays, it's almost normal to see a referee suspended for a few months just because he cost some points to the big team. Players also complain far too much on a pitch, I'm always amazed at how Suarez doesn't end up every game with a red card. Not sure how to solve this given the money at stake for some of those clubs, they'll always blame referees just to try and get an advantage long term.

Go ahead.. should be easy since they are countless

Also its not just not getting calls when you lose, its also not getting calls when they win. At the end of the day if teams are good enough, they make enough opportunities.

it is a bit old now, and he always does that annoying thing where he counts down on his fingers everytime hes been fouled upto that point. And yeah the last couple of yeras even Messi has started to develop a bit more of an attitude compared to before, he gets in the refs face alot now too.

I guess a lifetime of getting kicked non stop will do that to anyone but still, does take away from the first decade or so of him just putting his head down and moving on from nearly every hit.

It isn't about getting kicked non stop, it is lack of consequences. The only player that consistently gets booked for dissent is Morata, everyone else just is allowed to crowd the ref all game long.
Just start booking everyone for it and it will end very quickly, fucks sake they even try to argue after VAR usage.

I agree, I think Ive mentioned this before aswell, just book everyone and start suspending people for accumulating them. The only way to change that sort of culture is to have serious consequences. Even fine are pointless. They have to miss games or something that affects them enough to care.

They dubbed it the Costa card in premier league last year and Costa got it like twice and tbf hardly moaned much. Morata gets it every game he plays, yet others get away with it, weird. But we all know FA hate Chelsea :3

I don't mind being out of Europa League. I'd rather finish #2 than win it. Better to stabilise it

UEFALONA was born in 2009 and died when Neymar joined (hence why Madrid won their 3 CLs recently). It's now reborn. It's predictable.

And lifetime of getting kicked? You just described Neymar, not Blatter boys who can barely be touched (and sometimes not even) and referees reacts strongly.
