For lack of any better platform to unload this on I’m going to moan about ridiculous Asian nationalist arguments my friends have had with me. What I mean by this is when I a talking about China to a Chinese person or Korea to a Korean person and I think they have got something wrong. So I correct them and they just flat out tell me I am a foreigner I don’t know. It’s so annoying and drives me crazy. I don’t know if Western people do this too I’ve only come across it in Asia. I will give you some examples (most of them fucking ridiculous)

My Chinese girlfriend told me there were no hedgehogs in China. I told her I see them all the time in the park. She flat out tells me I am wrong she’s Chinese she knows there are no hedgehogs in China, I am a foreigner I don’t know. It blows my mind I literally saw one the day before we had this (the most pointless argument on the planet). This was eventually solved when after days of going for late night walks together with an ulterior motive one finally walked out in front of us.

I had a conversation back in Korea with two girls from Gyeoungsang about how cold it got in Namyangju I told them a story about how it got down to -17 one morning and they both just flat out told me it doesn’t get that cold in Korea we are Korean you don’t know. Surely the fact I lived there for 2 years is more fucking important than the fact I am foreign. Agggh

I had my Korean boss tell me ducks can’t fly at a wildfoul park with ducks literally flying behind her as she said it. I told her to look at the ducks she said they can’t be ducks because they are flying. She is Korean she knows ducks can’t fly in Korea. My protestations that there are literally ducks flying I can see right now and we have ducks in England apparently irrelevant.

Any argument ever with anyone Chinese about Mao or Chinese history (which none of them know) always ends with we are Chinese we know you don’t. But that’s a whole different story, Mao is basically a religion and really not too far from the way North Koreans talk about their leader. I told my girlfriend 80million people died under Mao and she told me because of foreigners which completely perplexed me. She refused to tell me how foreigners caused these deaths just keep saying I am not Chinese I don’t know.

The worst one by far though was trying to have a compassionate conversation about the London fire and how sad it was. Some how this conversation turned into her lecturing me about how dangerous other countries are and how everything is safe and perfect in China. Are you fucking kidding me? China has a good safety record? Really? Oh my god I need a lie down.
Anyway sorry for wasting anyone who's still readings time. I literally had no where else to rant about this. I just don't get how where you are from can be used to justify a view point against all logical arguments or perceivable facts.
