yeah like I could potentially see him go to a shitty league when he's like, 38 or whatever, to make an extra easy $100 million for showing up. But as long as he's a ballon d'or contender, that is his priority. Probably more so than winning more titles for his clubs imo.

It is summer, it is time for RULES DISCUSSION. (This is like the postTI dota patch time :D)

IFABs newest ideas which are to be discussed are according to various media:
- 60 minute gametime, but pure playtime. So basically clock is stopped whenever the ball is not in play. - same as in hockey or basketball
- game can only end when the ball is out of play.
- goalkicks can be played to a player inside the box
- freekicks/corners can be dribbled. The second touch does not need to be another player anymore.
- freekicks can be done with a moving ball
- hand play on the goal line (by a player of the defending team) is automatically called a goal, regardless if the ball would have went in or not
- penalty kicks are followed by a goal kick, so no rebound goals are possible (motivation is supposedly the issue of encroachment, as this rule is always violated these days...)
- referee mobbing can be punished with goal/point deductions (gosh, imagine the spanish league... whoever has positive points at the end of the season will win....)

edit:
Here is the original document with all those suggestions

El Mundo: "Cristiano is the latest Mendes customer to have tax problems. One of them, Falcao, has already pointed at Mendes as the perpetrator. Falcao abandoned Mendes, who now fears that Cristiano will do the same. To save himself, he started pulling the strings to blame Madrid and Spain instead." That actually makes the most sense from all the reports so far.

That's the easiest explanation since no one has any sympathy for Mendes. To me it's more likely that there is a complex gray area over the taxation of international image rights by foreign nationals who sold these rights to a foreign company and haven't withdrawn these funds for personal use. Since the gray area exists, whoever ran this for him may acted based on precedent - its likely that many have acted this way without any problems for years. Now given the need to cut deficits, the descendants from the Spanish inquisition decided to make an example out of football players, threatening them with long jail sentences. A guy worth north of 300m isn't going to knowingly risk going to jail over an alleged 14m.

Surprisingly pleasant game between Portugal and Mexico, this competition might end up more interesting than I first thought. Good use of video to note, during goal celebrations, 38 seconds total, no time lost.

I liked what I saw upfront, but our defense really dropped the ball today. Midfield isn't really working either which is silly considering the amount of talent we have there.

Respect to Mexico who have got a lot of fighters in that squad.

I think it's the worst German national team I've ever seen, 3 2 win against Australia but still. Werner and Stegen should be in the starting line up and the defense did not work.

Gratz to Australia, they put a decent fight

I guess you didnt see some of the teams around 1998-2004 (not including the 2002 world cup). It was really dire. Like, crossfield "passes" crossing the sidelines at 10 meters of altitude. Iirc after the 1996 final we didnt beat a european team at a big tournament for until 2006. Some of the friendlies were abject. A "worst of" includes 1-5 losses to romania and england, the 199 confederations cup (ok it was a B team), a last second 2-1 win vs the faroe islands, and my personal lowlight (not so much because of the result but because of the lack of any apparent skill or effort by the players) a 1-0 loss to wales.

2002 Germany was all on Kahn, i still think he is one of the greatest keepers of all time.

Sure he made a mistake on Brazil first goal, but he was the sole reason that awful germany got to the finals

I re watched that finals the other day and tbf even if Khan was on his day in that finals. Ronaldinho was just another level, Ronaldo should had 6 before Khan made a mistake but he also had an off day.

Fun finals though.

I miss that Germany. Remember the 3-0 at the Euro 2000 fondly.

The way i see it Ronaldo will mostly likely to grab his 5th Ballon d'Or this year, bring him up to Messi's record. Being the competitive beast that he is, Ronaldo will definitely want to get one more, especially before Messi does. And I don't see a better place to do that than at Real Madrid (well there's probably Barcelona but it'd be a cold day in hell). So yea, Ronaldo will probably stay for another year at least.

Fair enough. He would probably gain the record of being the most expensive transfer ever if he went to United or PSG for 200 million though, a record that you don't want to miss out on...

Why would I watch Germany against Romania or Faroe islands? I might have watched England Germany though but internet was crappy back then and it certainly did not air on TV. I'd take all those loss to have a national team which always performs at the world cup.

My personal French lowlight was players not getting out of the bus in 2010, karma for eliminating Ireland with a handball I guess.
