This 'loss' is really bugging me. What a waste.
Realistically, I feel over both games no team was better than the other and Schalke just got a little bit lucky with the pitch and the penalty. In my wildest dreams I did not believe that Mönchengladbach had a chance to win it all, so I can take solace in that. The extra millions in cash would have been nice though.
Game of the season is the DFB Pokal semi final against Frankfurt now. For a possible trophy and for a spot in Europa League next season.

Ajax is awesome. 2-0 up. They dominated the second half, but weren't able to score the 3-0 (serious problems finishing... wtf). Then it's the last 2 minutes of regular time, and the entire team goes running forward to try to score the 3-0. It makes no sense, and is incredibly naive. But it just made me feel they are awesome. Always attacking, always trying, even if it is tactically stupid as all hell.
Anyway, quarterfinals, let's go!

Yanited to next round! Pogba got injured and was subbed mid way, hope it's not serious.

The draw is coming! Also I don't remember having so much time between the ro16 and ro8 games... Now we have to wait 3 more weeks :-(
The dream: Barça - Leicester Real - Atletico
Nightmare: Barça - Atletico/Bayern Real - Leicester And whatever else :D
Predictions: Real - Monaco Barça - Dortmund Atletico - Juve Bayern - Leicester
I don't think any of these matchups have been done in the recent years (Real-Monaco in 2004 only).

As a barca fan I would like real right away.

Ajax (NED) Anderlecht (BEL) Beşiktaş (TUR) Celta Vigo (ESP) Genk (BEL) Lyon (FRA) Manchester United (ENG) Schalke (GER)
Is it me or is the Europe league less stacked than usual? I'd give Anderlecht a fair chance against any of these teams. I just hope they don't have to travel to Turkey in the middle of the Belgian play-offs so I'd rather not draw Besiktas.

Ibrahimovic has provided 17 assists in European competition since Aug 2011; only Cristiano Ronaldo (20) has provided more.
Ibra and Cronaldo as the top assist givers? o.o

I thought the teams in terms of "prestige" making this a big europa league for once. Man Utd Schalke Lyon and Ajax all few seasons ago where last 16 champions league teams minimum. Anderlecht and Besiktas were making champions league no problem as well. Throw in Genk and Celta Vigo and it could be a fun semi finals. Imagine a Ajax Lyon Yanited Schalke last 4 that isn't to bad is it.
Where technically a last 4 in champions league could; Leicester Monaco Atletico Madrid Dortmund XD

I hope for Barca vs Bayern and Real vs Dortmund. High chance that both german teams get eliminated, but it will finally be some epic matches to watch :D
Worst case: Bayern vs Dortmund and Barca vs Real imho..

What I would like to see: Monaco vs Barca Leicester vs Bayern Turin vs Real Atletico vs Dortmund
What I would not like to see Any matchup between two teams from the same country Real vs Leicester/Monaco Leicester vs Monaco
edits: Ooops I hope noone saw that earlier.

Also, Lyon is raging in Europe. I am either severely underestimating Anderlecht this season, or the original assessment is rather optimistic.
In terms of quality this season, I'd rank: Ajax, Anderlecht, Genk, Besiktas and Celta as all mutually likely to win a matchup with one another Schalke should beat any one before ManU depends on which ManU shows up. If the good ManU shows, they can beat anybody in the league. If the "don't care about EL" ManU comes, they are out in this round. Lyon should beat everyone easily except a strong ManU.

Kinda overestimating Lyon, my friend :D They beat Roma 4-2 but not really deserving that scoreline. Roma was properly better overall, they lost the tie over 30 minutes in the first leg.
Celta/Lyon/Shalke is the same level, imo. I don't know about Ajax too much but they should be around that too.

Where technically a last 4 in champions league could; Leicester Monaco Atletico Madrid Dortmund XD Ajax hasn't been this far since 14 years. We haven't been last 16 CL material for a while now =/. I was suprised by how good we were vs FCK though. We were the better team over the 2 games imo. I think we can do well this EL but we can be out in the next round too :D

Real will get Monaco or Dortmund ofc

EL is pretty much most important competition for ManUtd now

They are fairly close now and it isn't like anyone above them apart from Chelsea has looked really consistent

winning EL means a CL spot next season.
