I think it can have some validity, but it requires a) a very large sample size, and b) comparing players with similar roles. Comparing a sub with a starting player does not work. Firstly, significantly more goals are scored towards the end of matches, period. Secondly, having a fresh pair of legs against a tired pair of legs is obviously beneficial as well. Third, subs generally don't get enough play time for their sample size to give a true indicator of their skill, at least not over one season.

81-90+ is a bit skewed because that bracket is basically like 13-14 minutes on average, but the trend is still clear that more goals happen towards the end of games, which totally makes sense, as teams will inevitably be more gung ho towards the end of games. I'd also argue that goals hinge more on defensive mistakes than attacking prowess, and that tired defenders make a lot more mistakes.

Leicester go 1-0 up against Liverpool 28minutes played. Good goal from an exceptional defense splitting pass. Problem is Leicester look really good here in terms of energy levels and trying. Not causing alot of greif but dont look like the push overs they have been. Liverpool finding it difficult, you would still fancy them though of getting at least 1.

Ay I'm jinxed when it comes to fantasy football and their team. Pick coutinho, mane scores 2. Switched to mane and coutinho scores this game. Rinse and repeat for the last 10 matches or so.....Not gonna be selecting them anymore lol

Liverpool is just too thin squad wise. Their bench is pathetic, klopp is forced to play the same lineup every week. They have no one to blame but themselves

Now all we need is Liverpool to somehow come back from this shameful display and deliver a win against Arsenal this coming weekend, and United is wide open for 4th. That postponed game against City is still a big question mark but we'll take what we can get now.

What a huge drop off for Liverpool. At one point they were 5 pts off Chelsea and could have made it 2. Now they could potentially drop to 6. What a difference 2 months make.

Seriously hilarious how the players are complaining.. Like I read in a norwegian paper that the goalie basically said 'This is seriously fucked up, the goal-line technology made the difference and things could have been different if it had not.'?

Not just the goalie, a large portion of the media have been complaining about it. The technology is still being experimented so the first half of the season the technology was in amsterdam and the second half of the season it is in Rotterdam. In terms of matches it is fair, but obviously Feyenoord profited more from the technology than Ajax did. So everyone in Amsterdam and Eindhoven are all being salty about it. Completely forgetting that we are talking about a legit goal which would not have counted and Feyenoord being the better side for a good 70 minutes.

Also the referee said on tv yesterday that Feyenoord should have gotten a penalty, which would have been the talking point had there not been goalline technology.
