It's an extra $5 but I get many of the Olympics channels now and I get to watch Fox as well when NFL seasons starts. My antenna sucks at getting that channel. I can cancel and modify my subscription easily so that's a plus. I don't really need espn until they start showing NBA games again.

CNBC and MSNBC are both going to be temporarily added to Sling blue during the Olympics.

I tried looking at which sports are going to be on which channel on which day and couldn't find anything. It's a huge pain in the ass for anybody who wants to watch a specific sport on tv. Easiest way is streaming it seems.

I stayed in leblon, one of the upscale aflluent areas and was a couple blocks from 2 major shopping malls (very safe). As for the olympics, The city for sure doesn't have proper infrastructure to accommodate the influx of tourists, so it actually works in Rio's favor that the ticket sales aren't as high as other places. Also with the water concerns, it was somewhat alarming to see several draining pipes empty straight into the ocean, but that concern was somewhat lax due to the fact that there were many many surfers and other people playing in the water and no real concerns about the quality of the water from the Cariocas
