So, it's the olympics again. Will be a tough competition with TI6 for my viewing time.

Just looking at the (great) opening post again made me realize that what people think of as a "notable" event is highly subjective.
Pande surely mentioned the most popular ones, even though I sometimes wish it would be otherwise. A school friend once said that he wouldnt watch a sport where "a trained animal/monkey could beat a human", and nowadays I feel pretty much the same. I feel that sports which are inherently about maximizing a few select physical aspects of your body, are just too prone to doping: Swimming, running, road cycling I think are the prime examples I think. Even though I enjoy swimming myself and I respect any honest athelete, I just find it boring to watch and cant get the suspicions out of my head.

For me, the olympics mainly consist of sports such as judo, hockey, table tennis, taekwondo or water polo, where the athletes really have one shot at glory every 4 years, and the human interaction part is a substantial component.

Also worth mentioning: Competitions start today, with the womens football tournament.

Yeah notable events i just put in as many as i could that i thought were big. I personally will watch my bae Jessica Ennis-Hill in the Heptathlon and Mo Farah in the 5k and 10k events. Plus the 100m 200m for Bolt if he is fit. Then i just have a look at all the events as they are always fun, just a bit of a bad time this year with TI6, Football resuming and the timezone factor.

Oh and world records, gimme some :D I want some more Phelps domination.

is the area that should be double checked each time -- you can adjust the important scheme settings here. Usually tweaking the Hex colors for each layout style will do the trick. Can always inject more css code if need be

The open water events are going to be interesting but probably not for the reasons you normally watch.

I'm just looking forward to having some background noise on TV while I play my 3DS. I won't be able to watch anything from Mon-Thurs next week, though, and maybe even this Sun.

the big reason why they took away soft/baseball away in the first place was beacuse of the cost of building all the fields. Tokyo will put them in massive stadiums that are already built.

Hopefully this is a signal from the IOC that they won't host the olympics in nations too small/poor to afford them.
