The main event was entertaining. The Canadian Football League is also "entertaining". However, in the back of my mind I'm thinking.... these guys are no where near the best in the world. Bring back Khabib and GSP ... and how about NFL rosters playing with CFL rules?

I was pleasantly surprised with Chandler too, I had watched a couple of his fights and he seemed like a powerhouse, but his technique and footwork are also pretty great. Sure Hooker didn't do much, however that doesn't diminish what Chandler did that fight in my opinion.

Also if Poirier was able to stiff Conor's leg to this extent, imagine how much damage Gaethje would do to that leg.

I thought McGregor had more weapons to bring down Poirier than the opposite, but the guy simply didn't evolve in the past 5 years, and his style is a lot more plotty than before. He called his boxing coach back for this fight and got utterly destroyed by leg kicks and a smart gameplan.

I don't think he's physically in a worse state than he was before (not like Ferguson sadly), but mentally he's doing all the wrong things. No plan for any fight except marching down his opponents, refuses to acknowledge his defeats or finds excuses. Sure he can fight Nate but if I remember correctly even Nate said he doesn't need Conor anymore - in his head and in interviews he said he had beat Conor twice already lol

I think Conor still poses a nice threat to the rest of the lightweight division to make some interesting striking matchups, with the likes of Dan Hooker or Tony Ferguson. I don't see him competing him for the title & if he does, I don't see how he can handle the output of Poirier, Chandler, or even Gaethje anymore.

I was pretty happy that Chandler had an impressive debut, I saw him as a lightweight Chad Mendes with his explosive power & wrestling, plus the dude is built like a monster.

Unfortunately, I really have no interest in watching Jessica Eye or most women fighters anymore. It seemed like during the era of Rousey, Invicta & other organizations had some prime women's talent but now, it's really just sloppy head-and-arm throws & one-sided striking. The only division that has any semblence of competitiveness seems to be the women's strawweight division. Pena does not seem like she has anything to offer for Nunes, and GDR seemed like she was the closest but she's already lost twice to Nunes so doubtful that happens again.

Women's MMA is too disciplined to be a fun shitshow, and the athletes aren't good enough to create an explosive, but skillful fight. Knocking out someone who is moderately skilled at defense with a woman's punching power is extremely tough. Even something like battering with leg kicks like what Poirier did is a lot less likely. Probably eventually the best women will be good at takedowns and passing the guard. But most people don't particularly enjoy that style.

When in doubt, just bet on Lewis or Ngannou. Regardless of how technical Volkov, Blaydes, Gane, Boser, Overeem or anyone can be, one boop from either & it defies all odds.
