If you are not on these channels you have to wait until the evening to watch full highlights on Sky Sports or on free tv (BBC) for Match of the day but it is very limited highlights there. That was pretty obvious and it's the same for the Bundesliga. ![]()

Champions league is all paid for now with highlights 60 minutes after full time on a free channel but it is minimal. Used to be split with 1 game on sky 1 game on free but BT changed it when they spent 900million on champs league rights. So free live games this year have only been FA Cup in which there was 1 per round. I see, that's not very different from here then (at the moment). Luckily the CL isn't completely on pay TV yet, and I don't think it will in the near future. Oh, and I forgot that we actually can see two Bundesliga games on free TV every year. On the first playday and on the first playday after the winter break. How about the European Championship in France, will everyone be able to see England games for free? I highly doubt that you won't but I'm interested still.

I've heard many people say enlarging the tournment makes it worse because it dilutes the quality and makes the group stage less exciting. This I guess is a true and valid arguement. But moreover having a group stage where in most cases 3/4 teams go through is even worse as it makes a complete joke of the group stage. Even assuming for some reason we have to have 24 there must be a better way of doing it. Let's say the top 8 from quallfiers go straight through to the last 16. That leaves 16 teams, 4 groups of 4 top 2 go through to the last 16. That would be a little bit like the Cricket World cup where the smaller teams have a mini tournment at the start of the tournment to see who get's to the last 16 propper. It means if you have to go this route you have to play an extra 3 games. But that's more insentive to qualify in the top 8. There you go I've made the qualifying more exciting too.

Catalan media is already making joke phone calls to the spanish federation/Calderón stadium about it and people are coming up with creative ways to get the flags in without breaking "the law". For example you can enter a standard catalan flag and a star and patch them together once you are in. Or wear an independentist t-shirt, remove it and wave it, since that is not a flag at all. Fun times ahead in Españistan ![]()

It seems that this year everyone has money. In the Premier League all the clubs have money. Man City, United and Chelsea will rebuild their teams. PSG will most likely also do some changes in the team so they can attack the champions league. Real Madrid needs some serious changes. Cristiano Ronaldo might leave Madrid. Leicester will also need to buy players if they want to be contenders at least for the top 4 next year. Every other Chinese club has some money to get some players from Europe. With Ancelloti now in Bayern i don't know if he wants to do more changes in the team (after bringing in Hummels and Renato Sanches) The Portuguese market is on fire right now with Sporting and Benfica players in really high demand.
