or o they get them for free with these deals? Lol no, thats kinda how sponsorship works. You get the sponsors shit for free should it be a critical component of your function as ambassadors for a brand. Which kids are. + Show Spoiler + So no one for example is gonna ask for a lifetime free supply of Pepsi, but you can get it if you really want it). That's like peanuts compared to what they are paying to be a sponsor anyway. I was just thinking about who owns the jerseys and it popped into my head. Say Real sells a lot of jerseys, how much of those profits go to Adidas? They must be making a fortune, much more than the 10 million a year they are paying Real. Usually most of the profits of shirts go to the sponsor, Real might have a better deal tho.

Jerseys for SALE and jerseys for USE are different. Jerseys for use go to the club free. The other jerseys that the club sells dont belong to them, they belong to Adidas. Thats what all that money is paid for over 10 years.

Its basically an exclusivity contract to use the RM name to sell shit.

The club gets a cut of jersey sales (sometimes like maybe Real or Barca) but the majority of it goes Adidas. Real doesnt sell the jerseys, Adidas sells the jerseys. Ofcourse there are channels where people buy from the stadium or RM stores but its just a sales channel like any other. Most PL clubs do not get a cut from what I know but the top clubs might.

But Royalties are tricky thing to find and I dont think they ever really reveal that. If there is a club based sales channel the cuts would be higher. + Show Spoiler +
And its a small fraction of where jersey sales come from if we are talking worldwide. Adidas has its own channels for selling the jerseys where most of the money comes from.(just like if you were to get the shirt from a multibrand store that is buying in bulk and selling at a markup)
The reason they are forking over all that money is because they project that it is profitable to pay all that money and recoup more buy selling merchandise (not just jerseys mind you) over the course of that period. And everytime there is a big signing which is a regular occurence at big clubs the windfalls give a nice boost to your P&L's

Sporting Kansas City announced Friday that the club has agreed to transfer forward Krisztian Nemeth to Al-Gharafa SC in Qatar, pending a physical. Per MLS policy, Sporting Kansas City will receive two-thirds of the transfer fee.

basically, sponsors pay money to use your players as billboards that happen to kick a ball around on the pitch for 90mins every week in front of millions of people.
imagine there's no limitations to what they can put on the jerseys. players will be like those nascars lol. sponsor decals all over the car.

Well game over. I think Atletico can't play Barça like this anymore, they play as violently as 2 years ago but they field less brutes and more technical players... They're bound to get punished like today.

I think getting players like Carrasco or Griezmann helps Atletico compete against Barça/RM over 38 games, but it makes them weaker against big teams. Simeone needs warriors that fight from the 1st to the 95th minute, strikers that defend in their own part of the field, etc... Barça has the perfect tools to deal with them, and it's being proven once again.
