Yeah not for me either. Skiing, touring, paragliding, speedriding just wouldn't be fun anymore if I am 90+ kg clump.

That said I probably have the highest bodyfat of the past 5 years or so right now, and I am breaking PRs every week.

That intermittant fasting sounds interesting. I think I briefly read about it in a magazine some time ago.

Actually I am kinda unknowingly doing it at the moment, because I skip dinner during weekdays (except from an apple and a protein shake after workout).

It's tough/impossible however to keep doing it through the weekend tough.

Depends on what kind of fasting you do, they range from 8hour/16hour stints to days. But for a proper fast you cannot eat anything (including apples and protein shakes). The most you're allowed is coffee and maybe a scoop of bcaa in combination with workout.

I can't really vouch for the nutritional/fat burning aspects of it, and I don't follow it correctly either (i.e macronutrient division over the course of the eating period), I just do it because it's an easy way to reduce total calories.

395lb deadlift this morning which was encouraging as deadlift has been feeling tough. Showed up late to the gym and just said screw it I'll max and be done for the day since that's all I'll have time for. also went up pretty quick without too much grind so a good sign I think. Velcro didn't hold on two belts this morning so that was pretty annoying lol.

Steadily going up in weight again now that I'm trying to eat more yay. Might break into 200lb in the next few months (while keeping my six pack but I wouldn't call it a sick one )
It is vanity to love what passes quickly and not to look ahead where eternal joy abides. Tiberius77 | Mordek #1881 "I took a mint!"

That seems a little over the top for me. How am I supposed to work and work out without eating?
And as far as I know you need some carbs and protein after workout.
I eat beakfast at 7 am, Lunch around 11:30 and my apple and shake around 5 pm after workout.

Its 14 hours of not eating anything or 19 hours if you dont count in the shake. Sounds ok to me.

But I am just gonna try to read up a little more about it to understand how it really works and whats the theory behind it.

Ye the bcaa is just for non-intensive cardio in a fasted state, specifically for fat burning. If you're gonna do IF properly with strengthtraining you gotta setup a schedule where you break your fast with a mid-sized meal a couple hours before your workout, followed by a big meal afterwards, etc, basically the system laid out in leangains.

I did this for a while, personally felt like it was too much of a hassle. Either way that kind of micromanagement is for achieving single digit bf while retaining muscle, hardcore bb stuff. Not for regular folks. Like I said nowadays I just do the 8/16 fast because its a simple way to reduce total calories.

Steady protein throughout the day, carbs intra and post workout (preferably some before as well), and healthy fats in the rest of your meals (more/less depending on your macros).
how reasonable is it to eat off wood instead of your tummy?

Pretty much everyone here below 200 lbs complaining about being a hard gainer could stand to lose their sick six pack for a year or a couple years to make some real muscle gains. You gotta put in real time under heavy weight to build muscle, and then you can coast on it later in life with a sick six pack and muscle that stays on your frame.

Meanwhile I'm over here at 210, and was 217 before rugby started up again (lol cardio) thinking "I can't believe how small I still am, I could really stand to gain another 30 lbs or so" but realizing it will probably take me a year and a half to two years to do it. When I started lifting I thought for years "220 will be heavy enough" but now I doubt I'll ever reach a point where I say "ok, that's enough" I'll just get to the point where progress slows down so much that getting heavier wont make sense, or where the impracticality of eating more (I eat about 4300 cal/day atm) just wont be possible in my life in a healthy way. (lol med school)

Of course I haven't put time in under any particularly heavy weight; I'm only hoping to total around 1100lbs at an informal "powerlifting meet" my gym is throwing together on the 9th.

What was that site that regularly posts health related studies and articles? It was linked to a few times in the last years.

I think it was held in an ugly greenish tone and had no BS.

"Reduced red meat would be most helpful." Hokay.

Why does meat production cause greenhouse gases? Methane from cows?

These things always seem to think vegetarian means kale and eggplant. I think it would probably mean more bread

Yeah I think it's fact that cows actually fuck up the environment way more than any vehicle emissions. But that's kinda off topic.

The knee pain I've been having these past couple years came back after I started running, judging by the symptoms its classic runner's knee, and just in time for golf season. I dropped everything else and started rehabing, stretching my IT band and foamrolling. It doesn't hurt anymore but it feels kind of unstable whenever I casually put weight on it. Anybody got a good runner's knee instant fix so I don't have to quit the first round of golf (of the year) halfway through?

Following back to the articles they cite, it claims that the carbon emissions are a result of agricultural deforestation, agricultural emissions (farm equipment) shipping costs, processing and refrigeration. While vegetarian diets and meat including diets both definitely contribute to all of those things, the extent that livestock contributes is much greater than vegetables and grains. That's true and you can find plenty of other sources for it.

I'll never argue with someone who is vegetarian on ethical grounds, either in the "animals deserve better" sense or the "good for the planet sense" it's just the ones who claim it's for health reasons I have issue with.

I have no doubt that lots of inactive schlubs should be eating less meat, and that we, as a society, could be making more intelligent diet choices in term of reducing overall quantity and improving quality of meat. I also have no doubt that the factory farming and transport complex that the meat industry relies upon causes a lot of green house emissions. But I believe that there are alternative, sustainable models of raising livestock as part of a new permaculture paradigm that would not have these problems. So all the cowspiracy people can eat a dick if they are going to tell me to stop eating cow. Let's talk about the rest of their consumerist lifestyle if that's their best argument.
The unrealistic sound of these propositions is indicative, not of their utopian character, but of the strength of the forces which prevent their realization.

+ has a £30,000 car
+ thinks vegen is the answer

i was working for the car industries (until today)
i also know people who have £pretty much infinite
its a cycle of madness

the best is when you get the £30,000 cars that's biggest selling point is they have lower emissions than other £30,000 cars because they are electric/semi electric

or you could not spend 5 years of your life funding the £30,000 car industry......

dont get me started on cars that sell because they have wireless door handles and automatic windscreen wipers when it starts to rain

really what is the point of humanity>?

why i like anime and underage girl idols is because a lot of their attitudes are focused towards working hard towards natural things like singing and helping people in need

success to me is not exploiting the world to make money and buy a better car and house

success to me is encouraging people to be strong and make good choices that benefit the world

human beings were not designed to be selfless, but those who fight this are the strongest of us all
