This was simply the best card I ever witnessed. Pure fun, pure class.
What I saw was Connor being pretty badly ground'n'punded, but man... he has guts, he fought well, and lived throught all of it to fight another day (another minutes . And his personality is just awesome. I mean... I love guys being respectful to one another, and it just seems right to me, but this trashtalk brings so much fun and excitement to the whole thing. Hype hype hype!
I also really loved the signs of respect from both sides when it was all over. And Chad Mendez is just a really cool dude; I'm a big fan of his from now on. I feel I cannot just not love this guy after what he said and how he acted, both before and after the fight.
After all of this, I'm looking forward to the Aldo fight. The whole story of it gives me the 4th dimension of fun, and it will be thrilling to see what happens. Connor is a blessing, whether he'll win or loose.
Even though I thought McGregor was a beast of a fighter, for me it wasn't guaranteed. Having just watched it, well..
Mendes suffers from the same problem most (all?) Muscled fighters have, one or two rounds (at most) And then the lactic acid turns the arms and legs to dead weights, having McGregor try and butcher your liver & Mendes breaking his thumb didn't help.
Wrestling might be the best base for an MMA fighter, but the wrestling physique doesn't seem to pay off.
edit: McGregor has a chin too. God Dam.
edit 2: They both earned $500,000. (plus sponsorship / PPV slice on top)

full camp mendes has fine cardio did you watch mendes/aldo 2
according to Luke Thomas, Fightland and various fighting analysts... Mcgregor kicked the cardio out of Mendes and he started to "gas" at 3:48 of round 1.
I don't care how bad a shape Mendes is in during off-season he has more than 72 seconds of fuel in the tank. clean kicks to the ribs and gut have a negative impact on the recipient's cardio. the thing to note is how many side kicks and gut kicks Mendes absorbed from Aldo in that fight.
Mcgregor kicked Mendes to the gut and ribs virtually at will.... and when Mendes finally dropped his hands to protect his tenderized ribs Mcgregor hit him with a precision left hand that would put a horse to sleep.

Eww that defense was gross (was he trying something we couldn't see from this angle?), nice job though and cool vid.
i bet he'd win a 4 on 1 handicap match with 4 average TLers
No doubt, it's just embarrasing to get flying'd and in competition no less. Gi's are a pain in the ass but it looks like he should of got his arm in when he was adjusting, didn't look like he was even trying to, I would expect more from a purple belt is all.

after a careful and thorough analysis of this video my strategy in dealing with his offense would be to run full speed for the gym door... i can run from home plate to first base on a baseball field in 4.3 seconds... so i don't think he'd get any where near me.

Yeah I got that sprint speed but he would eventually catch me then I'd be winded and about to get choked out
I don't mean to undermine what he did, But if I was the other guy I'd be a little sour about it being on youtube lol.
It's the equivalent to be posterized in basketball.

he may have been experimenting with some new tactic... who knows.. i have no clue and no context.
i find in any competitive endeavour ....that experimenting with new stuff... sometimes leads to the most abysmal looking losses. so i'm not too judgemental about some person or team getting totally rolled in any kind of contest.

Yeah having your head stuffed into a guys crotch is never fun no matter what competition one is in, having it captured on tape, even less fun.
That's also why I was curious if he was trying something we couldn't see.
Well, his defensive technique wasn't the best or the one I would choose against myself, but it was correct nonetheless. He was attempting to stack and posture, while creating solid structure with his trapped arm on my hip.
Unfortunately for him, the only way to get out of my triangle is to tap
And don't worry about the guy. Most matches end up taped. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. I also have my 20 second loss in the next match on tape, however I leave the uploading privilege to the winner

Is this BJJ or Sambo? The blue gi & yourself being from Russia cause me to ask. That and I'm not overly knowledgeable between the two beyond wiki pages etc. How long have you been training?

Yeah okay that makes sense (couldn't see it from the angle) and it looks like you were ready to roll him if he tried to use his other hand to pull down the gi underneath. gj gg.
