They look super disjointed, plus Barnes is a black hole both offensively and defensively, and Redick has not been very good I always thought the term black hole referred to a player that doesn't pass on offense, no?

Doc the GM is just something else. "Doc the GM" is such a cop out. Pre-Championship Doc is the same Doc. His teams basically play at or around expected levels based on talent. And they had a good defense with KG + Thibs (so I guess he was good at hiring 1 assistant 8 years ago?).

That said, their SG and SF positions have been a mess. Not to mention the state of their bench in general. This team used to have a really good bench.

And as for the Kobe talk a few pages back (I have a lot to say), I pretty much can't even watch games right now. Kobe is back to annoying me with his selfishness. Whether conscious or unconsciously, Kobe is pretty much playing for his stats. He realizes they have no shot at winning and I think he is smart enough to understand that years down the road, people will only be looking at his numbers for this season. They won't look at circumstance and he is playing with that in mind IMO. If that is the case, then he is overlooking the fact that years down the road, basketball statistics will be more developed and there will be new, better ways of being able to tell efficiency. In any case, the main problem is Kobe keeps applying a short-term approach to winning ballgames like this (as has been his case most of his career). With the end of his career in sight and a non-championship team in place, there is even less of a motivation for him to stop now. He just wants to drop his 40 and that's that. Who cares about chemistry and how the numbers seem to show the Lakers play better with less or w/o Kobe right? For the majority of Lakers fans, Kobe has been above the team for a long time. He would get the support in these cases. But lately, I've noticed, there has been a small change in the wind. More and more Lakers fans seem to be speaking out against Kobe and his ways ^^. And it might get worse soon if this keeps up. As for Byron Scott, I don't even know what to say. He needs to sit Kobe down more. If he just lets Kobe do w/e he wants out there, it's pretty much saying he has had enough of him and is giving up. It's cringe-worthy hearing Boozer and Lin dance around the Kobe issue to the media when it's clear that they aren't saying everything they want to say.

that is in the context of a new coach and new players who don't know about the scheme and plays. if one of the confused players can't get into position on a given play, kobe will hero ball it to the tune of turning 50% of his touches into shots, a crazy high %. this is not a defense of kobe at all though, just saying he has literally negative tolerance for rebuilding and learning the game. it's not exactly selfishness, but a kind of elitist snobbery that can't tolerate learning process struggles on the part of lesser players.

I have brought up many posts about Kobe's leadership and reasons he is the way he is, but I am not delving into that really. I am speaking with that in mind already while realizing it is too late for us to expect change from him.

also about doc rivers, he is definitely a bad GM, but i think that is related to his lack of strategic prowess at coaching
