Too bad, I was hoping for that 2-1 at the end. Barcelona deserved the win, but Bayern was better than I'd thought in advance. With this result, the return is just a formality, I don't know if I'll even watch it.

A match like today gets me pretty hyped for Bayern's next transfer window.

It will be very difficult, Bayern's star players are getting old and some are almost irreplaceable. Robben had one of his best years, but it can't go on forever. Ribery seems to be past his prime, and so does Lahm. (Such a bad season for Lahm, maybe his worst in a decade or so.) Schweinsteiger is always injured, Kroos is gone and Xabi Alonso is old. Oh and Götze flopped.

There is so much to do in such a short time, I doubt we will see Bayern at the level of the past few years in the near future. Unfortunately Dortmund isn't there to use their weakness.

Whoever gave Lahm the thought of him being a DM ruined the last years of his career.
Lahm has and always will be a wingback.

Why are most chelsea fans still so bitter?! Even tho they won last time they meet. That is the definition of a terrible "winner".

Yeah exactly Gary Neville on English commentary said the same thing. One thing you get with Muller, is a goal out of no where. Guy is unreal goal poacher.

What? I dont understand 2-2 vs 2-2 is PSG>Chelsea? Well if so then yes they are this season. But doesnt mean i wont defend Chelsea when people post silly pictures of what Chelsea fans are thinking when clearly we are more than happy with how our team wins football matches. Pep is a miserable coach. He is the sole reason Lahm doesn't play right back. Low figured out within 5 games in the WC that Lahm is not a DM/CM or whatever. Pep plays the worst type of unlikely formations. In a Bundesliga game he played Rafinha, Mitchell Wieser and Sebastian Rode all at Left Back when none of them play the position and he had Juan Bernat (a natural left back) at his disposal. Despite being from America I've watched all but 2 Bayern games this season. I've seen Pep play David Alaba at AM or False 9 (its really hard to tell) I've seen him take off Muller in far too many situations which leads to a predictable lack of offense (also he took him off in the DFB Pokal semifinal which meant they didn't have him for penalties (he may be the best in the world at them) and they failed mightily to lose the game). Pep overplays players, which leads to the rash of injuries, the constant re-injuries of Holger Badstuber and the complete deterioration of Alonso over the course of the season. Pep's system has completely neutered Bayern's counter attack as well, leaving the team often stagnant and inept versus the top competition. Some Bayern fans want to chalk these losses up to injury, but I've heard many people who echo my thoughts, all of whom agreeing the Pep is not getting enough from our players. It should also be noted that we collapsed in the same way last year, even with a fuller roster. Really disappointing that Pep took a team that won the treble and morphed them into this under-performing side.

Yeah your not trolling anyone dude.To be fair there was great truth in that picture and it was pretty funny. So when you respond to that you just sound bitter

Lets be honest even Gary Neville your GOD pundit pretty much went and said "this is the level English clubs should aspire to" not all English clubs minus Chelsea. English clubs.

I dont get all the Pep hate. Yes you can criticize him for some of his monstrosities but thats kinda the thing. Theres a fine line between genius and madness and hes always pushing it. If it works it works if ti doesnt well hes a moron, but atleast hes trying stuff and getting some results out of it. Not all positive but whatever.

Hes still winning stuff just not everything. Like Mourinho doesnt have much more in the way of achievement and everyones sucking his dick. + Show Spoiler +
Sorry Chelsea fans and Sharkie but that feels like everyone

This idea that Heynckes'ss Bayern team would have continued to dominate Europe after one good season is also a complete copout. They barely beat Dortmund in the final who for the most part went toe to toe. The really noteworthy thing outside of any other CL run was the Barca thrashing and while quite the achievement just means you neutered an opponent really hard. The last 20 years are litered with thrashings like that by an eventual winner in the latter stages of a tournament. It happens. But short memories etc etc. This idea of that Bayern team being some sort of infallible god that was made mortal is very very pedantic.

Thats why I say there was no winning by taking the job. Either repeat a treble or get shat on. No one can do that.

What results have they gotten actually gotten out of it, though? They won the Bundesliga twice and barely won the DFB Pokal against Dortmund (tied after 90 mins). It's not even close to OK to get not just beaten, but embarrassed in 2 consecutive seasons in the Semi's versus teams you should compete against.

The reason Dortmund went toe to toe with Bayern in in the CL final is because Klopp is a genius. He and Simeone are the best 2 coaches in the world at getting max value from their players. Pep is going to be gone at the end of next year anyway, so why not take a stab at Klopp who in my mind is a far better fit for a team with players like muller, robben, alaba etc. If you've ever watched Dortmund you'd see that Subotic looks great in their system. Could you imagine the best left back in the world in that spot instead of him? Gotze flourished with Dortmund's fast pace counter attack system, where no he is mired in seemingly insurmountable mediocrity.

Even putting aside Pep's results. He makes far too many poor lineup decisions. He also is very bad at properly utilizing substitutions and the formations are genius or madness they are just plain stupid. There is 0 excuse to not play the best right back in the world at right back. The man thinks he's smart, but he is constantly overlooking the most obvious and likely best configurations.

Blaming Pep for this loss is very narrow-minded imo. Bayern has been super dependent on Robben and Ribery in the past few years. With both of them out, Pep had to take chances and it didn't work out. Just imagine how that game would've went if Barca couldn't field Messi. Just one player. Totally different game right there.

The DFB Pokal loss vs Dortmund was just super unlucky. Honestly, I am much more of a Dortmund fan than a Bayern fan, but still it was quite clear to me that Bayern deserved to win that game. They just had a ton of bad luck there, and were missing key players, once again.

I guess Pep could have made them park the bus, Chelsea style, but the team isn't used to that and it probably would have failed miserably and pissed the fans off, too. I honestly don't think there was much Pep could do there.

Hmm, there is truth in that picture? That Chelsea were all in shock last night watching that asking if that is real football? All Chelsea fans would have been watching going this is a great game of football, but not thinking damn i wish we had Messi so we can play like Barca, or had half of the German world cup winning squad so we can play like Bayern lol?

Gary Neville said that and i agree but thats because everyone would want a Messi or a half a world cup winning squad in there team. You can't play like Barca if you don't have a Messi in your team everyone knows that. Playing like Bayern is more of a blueprint for world football due to they have good stars who have formed a team.

I edited out the next part because you wouldn't agree, but out of everyone in England who has the closest squad to Bayern? Solid back 4, good balanced midfield with attacking wide talent and a goal scoring big striker...

except not sending out Robben in the dfb match against dortmund and keep Robben healthy?
I guess thats too much to ask for...
Pep has been making many mistakes these two years and they have just accumulated now to losses to Porto and Barca.

Or are Pep fans really going to tell me giving Lahm the stupid idea of becoming a DM, selling Kroos, sending Thiago to some doctor in Spain, subbing in Robben when ahead 1-0 in DFB cup match and selling Mandzukic (another vital player under Heynkes) were actually genius decisions?

Also funny how Dante and Götze became suddenly so bad under Pep.

I'm not Rebs, but I think all the hate Chelsea gets can be summarized quickly by stating these facts:
  • Chelsea has an incredibly talented squad with great offensive capabilities, but when they face decent opposition they'll field 10 defenders and hope for dumb luck. It's both boring and incredibly infuriating to watch.
  • Chelsea FC has sold their soul for money from a very questionable dude.
  • They have very passionate fans, at least on this board, despite the earlier points. I don't understand why.
