This is what you get for spending 170 million euro on 2 players... Some teams can build completely new squad with that amount of money.

There squad is sick and rotation should be used so easily. Isco Rodriguez Modric Illarameni Khedira Lucas-Silva Kroos, 7 more than good enough midfielders to rotate to beat the likes of Eibar and Malaga. Yes you might need the full strength of Modric Kroos Rodriguez midfield vs Bayern/Barcelona but they dont play them every week. Thats the problem with Ancelotti he hasn't used the others in games to get them feeling the need of being wanted and relied on. I mean a forward line of Bale Benzema Ronaldo Hernandez Jese also seems good enough to beat the likes of Malga and Eibar week in week out with rotation xD

That said, Málaga is way better than Eibar and a fine team ![]()

The reliable midfield players that Ancelotti can use are - Modric, Isco, James, Kroos(note that none of them is defensive midfielder). That's it. In the attack it's even worse. Bale, Benzema and Ronaldo can't be raplaced.

But there are low table teams like Eibar, Cordoba, Almeria, Granada, etc where Ancelotti really could have given more minutes to Chicharrito, Illara or Coentrao.

Burnley beat Man City too doesn't mean Burnley are on a level even close to them? Malaga beating Barcelona in a one off game means nothing. Sitting 7th in the League also means nothing at any level.

I'm not saying that Ancelotti couldn't have rotated more, but even the very best squads have to take every game seriously or they get in trouble, changing players reduces the likelyhood of you translating your better squad into points and then factor in that player performances are not a constant due to many reasons and that Ancelotti needs every point he can get. You are right that being 7th in a league means nothing, being the better team only means you win more on average, but in a single game a lot can happen. Just look at cup games with lower league teams. Also, who knows how much of an influence Perez has on who plays. Probably a lot more than you would want Abramovich to have :p

Probably a lot more than you would want Abramovich to have :p No clue about politics in RM, but with the ridiculous number of matches at the top level of football, you either rotate, or set yourself more modest goals than winning everything. The latter is not an option for RM, so they have to rotate. Otherwise players WILL be fatigued by the end of the season and will get injuries or simply stop performing at their top level. And RM has simply done that badly. You could even argue that the reason their second squad looks so bad is because they simply never get given a real opportunity, and are not even used to playing in the team. Sure, Bayern fucked up pretty badly vs. Porto in the away match, but they destroyed Porto at home without Ribery, Robben or Schweinsteiger.

With barca he'd get a draw or even lose most of the time and then dominate the opponent in camp nou, same thing now with bayern, shacktar/porto.

Bayern and RM are in drastically different positions from the beginning of the season, you can't compare that at all. Or wasn't that meant as an argument against Ancelotti? :p
