If it's completely random, he's just a bad ref. After several warnings a ref advises a player to get himself subbed asap because he would be forced to give him a red card otherwise. Is that allowed? The ref knows he has to act but doesn't and instead influences the competition by foregoing the punishment?! I'd say the decision wouldn't make any sense if the ref would certainly give a red if the player would not get subbed. If the ref said something like 'if you don't want to get sent of, you'd better get yourself subbed', he just means the player's behaviour in general is unacceptable; he's talking more about the likeliness of the player being sent off. It's like an ultimate warning. But i didn't see the moment you're talking about, so I don't know for sure.

It's like an ultimate warning. But i didn't see the moment you're talking about, so I don't know for sure. I sadly couldn't watch the summary and just read about the situation. It seems the ref either went to the player or his coach and told him that he's either subbed right now or he'll get sent off at the next possible moment. I guess that's fine as a last warning but it had to be the 4th or 5th last warning. If he said it to the coach I'd find that quite unusual because you have to warn the player and not the coach but whatever. I don't even care we didn't win. We didn't deserve it. But I hate that players like these are allowed to play football without getting any sort of punishment. Hamburg coach Zinnbauer said Vahlon Behrami saw another player coming and wanted to protect himself.

Not just missed/saved, caught! Really poor. Did you get a better look at the foul? Didn't look like a pen to me.

If you take into account the ridiculous not called penalty on suarez in the first half though, it balances out, xD.
