Regarding Gilbert, you guys should be happy with him. He is a reasonably reliable, skilled defenseman. He was run out of Edmonton because of #grit or whatever. He had a good season once again and has earned a raise. Hopefully he works out - he's honestly a bit of a bargain as a 2nd pairing guy compared to what others have signed.

Gilbert got boned because he was miscast in a #1 role much like Phaneuf, and the team/fanbase has a boner for the Jason Strudwicks of the world. Turnovers all day are fine as long as you block the puck with your face!!! e: i didnt realize Giroux got arrested for grabbing a male officer's ass several times hahahah

Can play all zones of the ice well and won't hurt you defensively in the least. Adds great playmaking and can read the ice very well. Pittsburgh really should have locked him up for a bit longer. At least 3 years imo. Its not about locking him down, its about Erhoff getting the stench of Buffalo of him with a 60-70 point year that lets him re-up for another mega contract one last time while taking what he thinks is a run at the Cup -- which we all know isnt going to be a run at the cup as long as the flower is the Pens goalie.

The goalie who already has a Stanley Cup win is unable to win the Stanley Cup. OK... I was thinking something similar about Ehrhoff, that he deliberately took a short contract, because being in exile in Buffalo the last few years, he felt like the market would cut him short no matter what. Anyway, I feel sorry for Gorges. What he does day in and day out is remarkable in itself, but playing for Buffalo there will be a lot more shots for him to block. Poor fool!

That's a steal at that price, and i feel he will vastly outplay it getting big minutes with top guys. That and probably the Richards contract are the biggest steals thus far imo. Richards was no where near his worth in NY, but $2m is like half of what he is worth at this point.

http://www.thestar.com/news/ken_dryden_canada_day/2014/06/30/pk_subban_nothing_was_going_to_deter_me.bb.html the minute you open your mouth to talk about how you kept your mouth shut... that is the minute you lose any credit for it. and this crap about Orr making 10 times as many mistakes as correct plays .. just LOL. is he lining up his excuses for next year? as far as changing the game the way Orr did... i'll give him credit for ambition, but it's already too late. game changers like Lemieux, Gretzky, and Orr have a solid body of work revolutionizing the way the game is played before they are 25. overall, Subban is a good defenseman, but he creates about as much offense as Scott Neidermayer did...with 10 times more risk. he should just be happy being a good defenseman and stop worrying about revolutionizing the game.

This is coming from a guy who worked the nightlife and I must say I've seen quite a number of liberties taken on the drunks.
