That would sort of make sense considering you guys are legal in Hull/Gatineau but yeah.. there are a lot of places that get good business on the Ontario side.

God. Fucking. Damn it. even with a decent coach that roster is still pretty meh. outside of robidas (if he stays healthy), the pickups did nothing to address their issues... namely, getting smoked on possession, and having crap d. gunnarson for polak was a downgrade too. Washington elected to pay Brooks Fucking Orpik 5.5 per over him basically. That's nuts. because hes a massive turd. If they didnt sign him you can bet Ovie didnt want to see him in town. I don't see how at all. He got buried on the third because Carlyle is a shit coach. And grabovski still dominated possession. When he wasn't given shit minutes and third tier linemates, he produced very good offensive numbers while driving possesion. that's exactly what you look for in a 2c. I dont know why ovi would not want him in town but that's pretty fucking stupid if true. Kulemin suffered from the same misuse imo, but I think 4m per is definitely an overpayment. that being said, nyi has tons of space, and they do have to overpay to get decent talent.

Figured as much. Based on that article though looks like Prongers salary is going to count against the cap this season if NHL executives pay any attention. I know if I was a GM I'd be lobbying the NHL to make it count

there are probably others in this situation. its a well defined loophole that i think will remain open. now, if Pronger had no real injury, but just were not good enough any longer... then i think you'd have some teams clamouring for Pronger's salary to count towards the cap.

During one Edmonton/Philadelphia game last season I remember the commentators saying something like the flyers paid out 89million in salary (or something close. forget exactly) to players during the season. It takes quite a loop hole to make that a reality. Creative accounting is how they worded it. Pronger isn't retiring officially as a favor to the flyers. Nothing more than that. If there was a chance he could play again, even a slim one than its fine and no issues but he can't. The GM says so, his wife says so, his brother says so. Even Pronger has vaguely said it. As far as I am concerned the flyers are cheating the cap. As a 35+ player they took a risk signing a long term deal. Time to pay the consequences

every loophole is an advantage to the NHLPA. so every time you close a loophole it becomes an NHL/NHLPA negotiating point. they chose to leave that loop hole open in the previous collective bargaining agreement. the only way this loophole gets closed is with a new round of CBA negotiations... like i said in my previous post.. its just too big a can of worms. notice no Flyer "medical expert" has said "Pronger will never play again." ![]() we've got every guy in the Flyer organization who knows fuck all about brain injuries weighing with their uneducated meaningless speculation though.
