Also, the deal will be off the books next year when they will have to get new deals for Kane and Toews. Pretty good deal for the Hawks who fill their biggest need imo.

This has stupid written all over it. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the Polak deal and look we get Frattin back where he's going to do what he always does. Go figure lol. I can't wrap my head around any of the decisions Nonis has made unless he's trying to tank our team for McDavid... pls fire nonis

I am not crazy about Boyle signing, esp since it means no Stralman. But having the flexibility cap wise going forward is really important. Losing Brian Boyle will hurt. Dude was never gonna hit his offensive peak again, but he was rock solid defensively, and great on draws. About as good as it gets for a fourth. Losing Pouliot sucks, esp after the year he had playing with Zucc and Brassard, but that contract is insane. Not as insane as Orpik's. That's hot garbage.

Random drug testing for GM might not be a bad idea either.

Still very sad to see Georges go, he was slowing down a bit, but the dude was a heart soul player, great leader blocked shots, truly gave his heart to his team. Also very, very glad he blocked the trade with Toronto... Taking Cody Franson for him would have been a HUGE Mistake from MB. Edit: Almost forgot about signing Jiri Sekac, don't know too much about him, risky taking a guy from euro leagues but from what I hear he's young, big, fast with good hands. Lots of potential of he stays with us!

He'll easily produce 40-50 points on a team like Pittsburgh. Signing him for only 1 year may even end up as a mistake, because his stock is bound to rise a lot after a full season with Pittsburgh.

His 33 points on Buffalo last season looks a lot better when you take into account the fact that the highest on the team was 44. Exactly this. I've loved Ehrhoff from when he was in Vancouver. Seriously under rated player. Can play all zones of the ice well and won't hurt you defensively in the least. Adds great playmaking and can read the ice very well. Pittsburgh really should have locked him up for a bit longer. At least 3 years imo.

I actually have no fucking clue who Gilbert is and why we are paying him 2.8 million but I'll wait and see. Love the Parenteau trade, Love the signing of Malhotra and dropping Gionta(Tough call to make as he was the captain but the right one) and I absolutely LOVE that we didn't pay any over rated bums 5+million... Was hoping we might pick up a bigger PF but meh overall MB did a pretty decent job I'll hold my judgement off on Gilbert until the season, so far I've like almost every move MB has made so he's earned the benefit of the doubt there. Still very sad to see Georges go, he was slowing down a bit, but the dude was a heart soul player, great leader blocked shots, truly gave his heart to his team. Lots of potential of he stays with us! Tom Gilbert has a bad rap, but he is ok if not force fed super hard minutes. Once upon a time, he looked like he'd be a good puck moving dman who could play at a high level. But nah. He's probably serviceable if deployed as a 4th dman that avoids the first line. Franson probably would have been better tbh. He produces pretty well on a shitty Leafs team. Gorges was entirely replaceable. He just blocks shots, and not much else. The Parenteau trade was great for them since he's a pretty decent forward, and Briere is shit now. I have no idea what the avs were thinking. The only thing the leafs have done right thus far is not resign Bolland, and that's really only because he got a really really stupid deal from florida vs a dumb one from toronto. letting Raymond walk was dumb.Granted, they shouldn't have paid him more than 3.5 per but he's pretty good and was a positive possession player on a turd of a team... so naturally, the leafs replaced him with two fourth liners in Frattin and Komarov. Nonis could only describe it was wanting the team to look as it did when they lucked into the playoffs two years ago. Kulemin has shown he could play well on the second but he was buried under Carlyle and is gone. He'll probably put up 40-50 pts somewhere else. Robidas was a good player for a long time, but he seems to be slowing down with age/injury. kind of a risky deal there. The Gunnarson deal still remains the dumbest of their offseason though.
