So will the Heat though. They might sweep the Bobcats but I'd be really surprised if they managed to take any other series in less than 6 games.
|
i disagree completely,I think miami will have walkovers all the way to the final.maybe the conference finals will be 6 games but other than that either 4-0s or 4-1s

They did get swept by the nets in the regular season, that series goes at least 6 games.

I don't see the Heat 4-1ing Brooklyn, maybe Toronto if they turn that series around.
Predicting how easy the Heat's path to a 3-peat will have been as a way of discrediting it before it even happens is so silly though.

I'd say Miami 4-1ing Brooklyn is a good chance of happening.
|
I watched every game that came from the west (cept the warriors vs clips games)and granted,I have not watched all the ones from the east, only series I followed completely is nets vs raptors. There is just a huge rift between the teams and games played in the east vs the ones in the west.I have no doubt in my mind that the heat will come out on top relatively comfortably, but the west is a huge cluster fuck. The spurs vs mavs and thunder vs memphis series in particular is like a fight too the death compared to what miami is going through right now in the first round and I can't imagine it becoming a lot harder for miami, while west is just going to get worse and worse for any team that advances. It's such a good climate for the heat right now to 3-peat,who ever comes out of the west is going to feel like they just climbed from the pit of hell and I can't see miami having to deal with that much adversity on their inevitable way to the finals.

I think we're bringing up the Heat's path simply because every other contender is getting clobbered. Some of it's their own damn fault (Pacers) but still, Heat are having a relatively great time of things compared to OKC and SAS.
I'm definitely not one to discredit how good the Heat are.

I must say OKC stole that win from the Griz if it weren't for RJ, holy god KD and Westbrook were horrible.

Ok well I haven't been in the NBA threads on TL for long, but my experience on other forums tells me that when someone says Its actually, kind of disturbing how historically easy this Heat run has been for them. they're discrediting the Heat.
I also got the feeling he was talking about their entire 3-peat "run" and not just this season, but that part could be adding meaning that isn't there.

there does seem to be a greater number of good teams out west. teams like memphis and dallas are just far better run than all teams out east save 1 or at best 2. but this is not a problem unique to the heat. the pacers are getting blown the fuck out half of the time by the hawks, who at one point were mired in a playoff race with the mighty knicks.

Well, we always knew the West was stacked compared to the East. But, we figured whoever came out of the East between Miami and Indiana would have to go through each other, and that would be their major roadblock. Maybe even the Bulls, in the case of the Heat.
It's definitely premature to do so, but it's hard not to look at the Pacers and Bulls as minor speedbumps, given the way they've been playing.

Well its not just that, its basically because its not just a blip for the Heat, its now a pattern (that is a historical anomaly). First, its created because the Heat, as assembled, inevitably left behind two corpses in the same Conference (for instance, this Toronto team + Bosh would be a pretty tough out). Its pretty rare to do that within conference (Shaq and Dwight and Kareem all switched conferences, for instance). Then, on top of that the Heat's #1 potential Eastern Conference enemy has had its best player injured for two years in a row. (And the Heat really turned Indiana into a problem, Indiana shouldnt have been a problem).
What that really means, is that they basically face 1 contender each year. 2011 they lost to that team: the Mavericks (Bulls were a fringe contender because of youth, like the 2009 Magic), 2012 Boston, 2013 San Antonio.
Other teams have had it easy as well for some years, like the 2009 Lakers, but rarely such an advantageous 3 (going on 4) year stretch.
