I really like what Cheeks is doing with Drummond. Got a lot of rest and playing time with the second unit, where he kind of just dominates his matchup. Part of it was foul trouble, but they also kept him in a few lineups without Smith and Monroe. 12/8 in 26 minutes. I'll take it. The nice thing about him on the second unit (when Jennings returns) is that him and Bynum play really well together. Also, I think he's going to lead the league in FG% and dunks this year. I like KCP a lot. I don't know why he wasn't taking open 3's, but he looks pretty quick and finished really well. Also a good passer. Most of all, the kid is feisty on defense. Yay, Chauncey is playing well! This team is fucking huge. I don't just mean the big 3 starters. Our backup SFs are 6'10, 6'8 and 6'8. Like, there are very few lineups where our front court won't be 6'8+, 6'10, 6'10+. And Jerebko, Singler and Datome play away from the paint, so that's good. The spacing issues weren't even that bad, tbh. Smith is a smart enough player (despite the shot selection) to stay on the wing when Drummond and Monroe are inside, and Monroe plays well at the top of the key. Also, this team passes really well. They were sloppy with turnovers, primarily Bynum, but Chauncey, Smith, KCP and Monroe are all very good passers. Should be fun to watch. Now we just need a 40% 3pt shooter or two. Monroe is going to seem a lot better on defense this year. Basically all he has to do in the post is plant and stick up his arms, and Smith, Drummond or Jerebko will come flying out from behind him to get blocks. Josh Smith still takes bad shots, but it seems like every clanker is a Drummond/Monroe highlight waiting to happen. We got lucky with the Wizards playing like ass. Way too many turnovers (Jennings will help) and not so good defensive communication. Wizards got a lot of open shots off blown rotations. One stupid moment in the first quarter, Chauncey got knocked down on a blocking call and Monroe and Smith just looked at the ref to complain, instead of helping him up. >.> Took them like 5 seconds to look 2ft away from them and see the captain on the ground. In the second, Chauncey got knocked down again and KCP ran from like 40ft away to pull him up. Finally, no Charlie V tonight! ![]()

I think some of that inconsistency has to do with being on the same team as Stephen Curry though, both in part due to how opposing teams defend the pair of them and due to him taking less shots if Curry gets hot. The thing with Golden State is that opposing teams crowd whichever one of the two of them is hitting shots forcing the other one to make them, so its not unusual to see quarters where defenses are focusing on one or the other. Just what I've noticed anyway.

Escaped with the win. Pelicans will be a good team this year. Anthony Davis looked amazing. So damn long and quick. Really tough match up for West last night.

Josh Smith is still not a shooter. I'd just like to thank Detroit for inheriting his poor decision making. Just wait until the game where he has 7 turnovers and goes 1-8 from the 3-point line while trying to lead fast breaks. That's Josh Smith in a nutshell. I seriously can't wait until Pistons fans start shouting NO whenever he rises for a 3-ball, just like back in Atlanta. But anyway the Pistons look good this year, and they were fun to watch. It's really rare to see a team just PHYSICALLY dominate their opposition. That 76ers rookie almost had a quadruple double. I really hope he keeps it up!

Really tough match up for West last night. Already is imo. Literally he is either in or very close to the second tier of superstars in the league.
