So one season later if Ancelotti beats him with Madrid plus goes on to win, I think that would be quite embarrassing and tarnish Jose's legacy. Of course he will say this is not his team, he has no strikers etc. but I'm pretty sure the media will never let him forget it. Nah, before him Real didn't even know what a CL quarter-final looked like for years. they parted on good terms imo. He should also know a lot about the other Madrid team, Athletico.
Now, you mentioned the media... picture this, Mourinho vs. Guardiola. The press will think Christmas came early lol

They didn't part on good terms. Mou accused his whole squad of being traitors, he told them that the barca players are catalan first and that they should be enemies which is just disgusting and he benched the legendary casillas just to show who's boss.
He's like a thug honestly. Don't like him one bit.

Seriously. I don't get why people like him. All I've ever seen from him is a massive ego and a horrible propensity to throw his players under the bus.

@Zeo watch out. Memes can get you banned I think.

Chelsea most definitely plays very defensively, there's no denying that. Wouldn't quite call it parking the bus akin to United tonight though. Chelsea is simply a counter-attacking team. I personally feel with the squads Jose has always had he should look to play more football but it's obviously successful even if not easy on the eyes.
As for Mourinho, I don't like him one bit. He humiliates some of his own players publicly and is simply disrespectful to other people in the industry (ie Wenger). Obviously, his tactics are reprehensible to anyone who wants to watch attacking play. Hopefully he goes out next round.

Madrid was really complicated, too many huge ego's used to stepping all over previous managers.
@the guy above. Chelsea scored 2.3 goals per game at home this season, only Liverpool (and Man C) I think is better but they don't have to play any European games. We have scored a ton of goals without any strikers, and I'm sure you don't beat Arsenal 6:0 by playing defensive football. Mou's first team when he came to Chelsea broke all goal scoring records and was a very swashbuckle attacking team, the fact that future Chelsea managers became more defensive doesn't change that.

I can't really say which team I would want to face in the semifinal, they are all scary.

Couldn't watch the game, just saw the highlights. Holy shit, like 4 balls in the post/bar, one play where it should have been a penalty and plenty of other chances for Atletico... with some luck they could have been up 4 or 5 no?

He plays a counter style of football which by it's very nature is defensive. It can still accumulate a lot of goals of course. The match against Arsenal is erroneous as they've been smashed by all the big sides. Mourinho has been a very defensive minded counter style coach since Inter. It was particularly galling at Real Madrid because of the incredible talent he had at his disposal. I feel with the talents he has in his team he should try to dominate the game, not defend and counter. That is a personal preference though.

Also, the United - Bayern tie now that it's done is shocking. I was criticizing Bayern for their inability to break down United's bus but I was wrong to do that I think. The really ludicrous part is how United played like absolute minnows, a San Marino versus Spain type deal in international football. How embarrassing is that for United? Especially for players like Giggs who go out expecting to dominate opposition. United didn't just play on the counter like a Chelsea team, they parked the bus like a small team. The crazy thing is, is that this is now considered a brave performance, something I expect to hear when Wigan manages a draw or 1-0 win over City. This is Manchester United for crying out loud. How far they have fallen in just six months. This attitude more then anything is why Moyes needs to go.

Yes, at some teams he has played counter-attacking football but I think at the end of the day the style of football his teams play is very dependent on the players he has at his disposal, most of the time while watching the EPL its attacking football but with the back-thought of not conceding any goals. (and of course, winning)
Oh, and yeah, I agree with you about United.

Yeah it depends at the players he has at his disposal. That's why when he had cristiano, higuain, benzema, di maria, ozil, alonso he played with pepe as a holding midfielder. Dat spirited attacking gameplay was overwhelming! xD
