A new deal was in talks and that's the reason for his transfer rumors but 37m per year, lol, don't know it that's real or just media bs.

That is probably including sponsporships and media rights or something. No way is he getting payed that much by Barcelona.

So the rumour was true? I wonder how much Ferguson's friendship with Mourinho had a hand in this transfer if this does come true.

I think the world of football is just broken if that is remotely true. Guess will wait on more media reporting it. Was only the one paper in England i have heard of it at the moment.

The football world is already broken with the incredibly inflated transfer fees and ridiculous wages.

If they're inflated it's because football attendance+TV viewership is inflated. It's not broken, it's the opposite of broken.

No one in this world should be earning £100,000 a week let alone £770,000.....that is broken, broken as fuck. Surgeons and Drs get peanuts for the work they do and these footballers for playing a game they love and we like get this kind of money for entertainment?
Yes, this world is broken xD
Don't forget was about 50 years ago when people who were footballers used to pretend they were plumbers and builders when they were outside clubbing/parting trying to get females. Now it's the opposite.

I do agree your point though, the reason this money can be "thrown around" is due to the TV rights going through the roof and sponsorship deals being that way inclined. However, there has been NO discussion ever of wage caps to stop this sort of stuff or to limit what goes on.
FFP is only half of the problem and with a million loop holes in that system it won't work.

You are right warding, it makes sense that with everyone watching and all the attention given to these guys that they would end up earning so much money. But to earn that kind of money in a country where men and women of the same age are struggling to land a job is ridiculous. Of course much the wealth comes from abroad, but without the supporters Barcelona would never become the club they are today in the first place.

Football is a working class game that seems to have forgotten its origins.

edit: Having said that, Barcelona building a new stadium is a step in the right direction.

37m a year is just a stupid amount of money to be paid by a club with so much debt within a country going through such hard economic times as Spain. You could buy a world class player every year with that kind of money, what happens when Xavi-Messi-Iniesta retire? The future of a club should always take priority.

Edit: wait... Barcelona building a new stadium? Didn't building Camp Nou almost ruin the club?
Ok so I read a little more about it. Redevelopment for around 500m euro which will add a roof and 7000 new seats.. idk how smart this idea is.

Financially things are vastly different now though. Not to mention that with the country struggling to get employment, now is as good a time as any to build a new stadium and it will help a lot of people get a job. Besides 500m euro is a lot of money, but most civil engineering loans are pretty long and not many banks expect the speed at which Arsenal and Bayern repayed their stadium loans.

They're not actually building a new stadium like Zeo said, just improving Camp Nou.

Yes but wtf do Barcelona one of the biggest and best stadiums in the WORLD. Want to build another one for LOL? Nou Camp is the reason some tourists go to Barcelona. I know thats the only reason i want to go is to experience that. Yeah i also do know they had stadium rebuild REJECTED and are now going to "redevelop" camp Nou. WHY?! lolol

Anyway, yeh Beater, i think our Juan is gone makes me sad, but also happy that he will be able to play and might be able to supply RVP and Rooney with some goals to make the rest of the pack drop points :D

Just really hope Rooney can come save us next season xD

I've said it before, players are just getting their part of the share. If doctors and scientists produced the same capital and fanfare that footballers did, they'd be getting paid the same amount of money as footballers do.
