There are still questions that can be asked because the sample size is too small. You'd have to wonder: how many managers around right now could have been given charge of a team with messi, xavi, iniesta, pedro, villa, abidal, puyol and have done what he did? I'd say quite a few probably...(point taken about spotting talent like pedro and busquets but did he do this on his own or scouting support and 'backroom advice'?) The usual test of a manager is repeated success either with a new team (Mou) or a largely new squad (SAF). The problem with Pep is that he has inherited such an overwhelming ludicrously good team, it's going to be kind of hard to do a 'before' and 'after' that sets Pep in a favourable light. It will all come out in the wash though, I'm just saying hold on, don't crown him just yet, let's wait a few years.

If it is being held between the dates they said....they are what going to have a 2 week break in the middle of it ? I mean footballers in the UK player on Boxing Day then the next 3 days until FA Cup 1st weekend in January. Will the world cup do the same or will it be a break in the middle of a world cup for Xmas and New Years??

Sure but again is there much of a difference for a sponsor if it's done in the winter I mean you won't lose any viewers or something.

What country would seriously consider withdrawing from it? Well the TV stations buy the rights to televise it, correct? They may have grounds to sue FIFA for breach of contract. Edit @ above: they'd definitely lose viewers in the USA and Canada.

I like that, even if he waited until retirement to announce that. It´s just stupid to assume that no active pro is "gay" if we know that around 1 - 3% of the adult males are (depends on the definition of homosexual). Shouldn´t be that big of a deal today at least in the west.

Speaking about what other coaches could have done the same as Pep with that team is pure speculation... You can say quite a few, I could say none, and there is not much actual discussion to be had there When talking about qualitites I rather focus on the facts instead of what "could have / should have / might have happened".I agree on the sample size being too small and to give him a few more years. Still think he is a genius and the best coach both atm and of the last few years tho xd While at Barça the guy almost lived in a basement watching tapes of the teams he was about to face and discussing tactics with Tito, such a perfectionist he got a bit freaky and lost his hair.

Yeah i heard Australia are about to sue as well. They spent £25million trying to bid for the 2022 World Cup and are going to claim compensation.

I'd be interested to see what the contract stipulates, you'd think they might have guarded against this eventuality by giving themselves some leeway as to timing of the tournament.

It makes a huge difference actually. Companies like Coca-Cola, Budweiser or McDonalds are directed into a summer (or neutral) location. Imagine a Coke spot on the beach for the World Cup in december. Also it lowers the value of sponsorship in the countries that are watching. Public viewing in January? I don´t think so. Its just messed up overall. Australia was denied mainly because it is too hot in summer and now its suddenly no problem? Also it will be an overall fu**ed up season because, depending on the date, you have to split the national leagues. So CL Ro8 in October and Ro4 in May? But hey its 8 years until this and who knows which kind of "democracy" is in Qatar in 2022.

It is fucking stupid though, the whole thing is just so fucking corrupted its untrue. How on Earth was a world cup in Qatar a good idea anyway ;_; I could of "just" about see the reasons to give Russia the world cup over the English bid which we invested a lot of time and effort in, but the Qatar one was just STUPID. A world cup in Australia would of been awesome for the Asian and Oceanic regions to see some of the top stars as well >.<

![]() I can't say i remember much about FIFA pre Blatter era but it wasn't as bad as this was it? Makes me sad our beloved Football is turning like the way of our governments in being solely about money and not about the game or the players or even better THE FANS!!! who actually make the sport happen / successful. Such a sad panda when this happens ;_;
