I am a bit surprised by the timing of the announcement. Hopefully it does not jeopardize PSG recruitment.

You're right he isn't a classical striker though

However, the weakness of focusing your attacks through a false nine is that it requires the opposition to play with some space between the midfield and the defence. If they 'park the bus' as shown by Chelsea, Inter Milan, Celtic and a few other teams, or are athletic enough to consistently close down the player when he's in the final third, like Bayern & Madrid, it could turn into a very frustrating match. It also helps if your other two forwards are real individual threats themselves, instead of relying on the false nine to get them going all the time.

1. Messi 2. Ronaldo 3. Ibrahimovic 4. Suarez 5. Aguero 6. Van Persie 7. Falcao 8. Cavani 9. Lewandowski/Neymar/Villa I took into account the 'potential' of a player, even if it can be seen as a totally irrelevant factor in a professional game where you need to 'be' more than 'to seem like you can be'... For example, I believe Aguero could be number 2 but he doesn't seem to be able to play at his full potential regularly... Villa would have probably been in my top 5-6 two or three years ago (he's my crush ![]() ![]()

I never get a name/number unless 1) I'm customizing it with my favorite number/my name or 2) It's the name/number of a legend of the team. The problem with getting a name/number is that that player could leave at any time, and then you look like an idiot with a name on your kit when that player plays for a different club.

Dropping deep to take part in or to initiate the build-up play, and then move forwards to try and get on the end of the move. It was designed to make it easier for the player to escape the constant attentions of the CBs. It's fair to say that Messi really has made the position his own. He has everything you could possibly want from a false nine. Obviously it isn't just this simple, but why don't more teams just play an anchor man against teams with false nines?

If he is 28+ he has 0 potential left, he should of hit his peak by then. Anything under that still has "potential" left in them. A kid has potential, not a 30 something, or a 28+ something.

Lewandowski will be 3rd/4th on any worlds striker list by the end of his 1st season in Bayern. Obviously you can't beat the likes of Ronaldo and Messi at the moment, and maybe even Neymar might push Lewandowski a bit lower, but no reason why he wont be at least 4th on anyones list in his first season at Bayern. Falcao will not be anywhere on my list if he doesn't get back into Europe and scoring it quickly, Suarez the same. I want to see him in Champions league before id put him in the top 6 of the best. Cavani has done it at most levels too, so i would put him 4th currently. RVP and Ibra as they are getting worst should be as low as possible. I also think Villa has lost it now, mainly due to Barca fault for fucking him over last season, should of let him leave for Arsenal in January for him to get something out of his legs, but ala they left him to rot on the bench and now he has finished.

But yeah, I concur with WillyWanker, Ibrahimovic is a step ahead of everybody not called Ronaldo or Messi.

I know its not only about results, but they have to count as well. what the heck guys. Mandzukic's role is about more than just scoring goals, he doesn't need to be included in a striker power rank to be good at it. The team that won the Champions League left an old school striker capable of scoring lots of goals on the bench and used a team player in his stead, so why worry about striker power ranks?
