Leonardo will leave PSG at the end of the transfer window. Personally I have not liked him that much, but thanks to him we have Ibra and Thiago Silva. It should give Laurent Blanc more power to shape the team like he wants.

I am a bit surprised by the timing of the announcement. Hopefully it does not jeopardize PSG recruitment.

Not too many pure classical strikers left in the game these days, let alone two-man strike partnerships

A midfielder doesn't score 60 goals a season.
You're right he isn't a classical striker though

Mohamed Al Fayed is in advanced talks to sell Fulham after 16 years of ownership, according to Sky sources.

False nines are a mixture of the two. Dropping deep to take part in or to initiate the build-up play, and then move forwards to try and get on the end of the move. It was designed to make it easier for the player to escape the constant attentions of the CBs. It's fair to say that Messi really has made the position his own. He has everything you could possibly want from a false nine.

However, the weakness of focusing your attacks through a false nine is that it requires the opposition to play with some space between the midfield and the defence. If they 'park the bus' as shown by Chelsea, Inter Milan, Celtic and a few other teams, or are athletic enough to consistently close down the player when he's in the final third, like Bayern & Madrid, it could turn into a very frustrating match. It also helps if your other two forwards are real individual threats themselves, instead of relying on the false nine to get them going all the time.

If I had to do a top 10 now it would be:
1. Messi

2. Ronaldo

3. Ibrahimovic
4. Suarez
5. Aguero
6. Van Persie
7. Falcao
8. Cavani
9. Lewandowski/Neymar/Villa

I took into account the 'potential' of a player, even if it can be seen as a totally irrelevant factor in a professional game where you need to 'be' more than 'to seem like you can be'... For example, I believe Aguero could be number 2 but he doesn't seem to be able to play at his full potential regularly...
Villa would have probably been in my top 5-6 two or three years ago (he's my crush ) but now he seems too old or at least lost on the field with Barcelona (which probably has something to do with how they treated him...), so

So if you took potential into account how come 24yr old Lewandowski is 9th and 26yr old Cavani is 8th and 27yr old Falcao is 7th. Yet OAP RVP is 6th and 31yr old Ibra is 3rd xD

Man, having such a dilemma about this jersey thing. Now I'm wondering, should I get the numbers on the jersey? Already decided against a name on the jersey. Won't be wearing it in Korea unless there's a match, but I will be going to another country soon

You should get a player's name and number It's weird if you just get a number and if you get nothing it means you are either poor or not a proper fan.

Aw hell no. I never get a name/number unless 1) I'm customizing it with my favorite number/my name or 2) It's the name/number of a legend of the team. The problem with getting a name/number is that that player could leave at any time, and then you look like an idiot with a name on your kit when that player plays for a different club.
A sound mind in a sound body, is a short, but full description of a happy state in this World: he that has these two, has little more to wish for; and he that wants either of them, will be little the better for anything else.

Obviously it isn't just this simple, but why don't more teams just play an anchor man against teams with false nines?

Hmm? How so.
Potentially this player can be good..well if he is 30 he has no chance. If he is 28+ he has 0 potential left, he should of hit his peak by then. Anything under that still has "potential" left in them. A kid has potential, not a 30 something, or a 28+ something.

Yeah but every player has a 'potential' limit. I doubt Lewandowski can ever be as good as Ibra or Suarez. I think Van Persie had a good potential and he is totally showing it, but his limits are probably lower than Suarez's or Aguero's. But that's very subjective anyway, we always get these feelings for certains players (in my case Suarez/Aguero) and we are always frustrated when they don't perform at the level we wish they would... Maybe they just cannot be as good as what we think because in football there are other elements like the psychological strength, the hygiene, the professionalism, luck/bad luck, etc..

Of course got no palms with potential left in Aguero and Suarez. There 25 and 26, thats still a good 5-6 seasons of having there pace left. But Ibra and RVP are just going to get worst and worst every season.

Lewandowski will be 3rd/4th on any worlds striker list by the end of his 1st season in Bayern. Obviously you can't beat the likes of Ronaldo and Messi at the moment, and maybe even Neymar might push Lewandowski a bit lower, but no reason why he wont be at least 4th on anyones list in his first season at Bayern.

Falcao will not be anywhere on my list if he doesn't get back into Europe and scoring it quickly, Suarez the same. I want to see him in Champions league before id put him in the top 6 of the best. Cavani has done it at most levels too, so i would put him 4th currently. RVP and Ibra as they are getting worst should be as low as possible. I also think Villa has lost it now, mainly due to Barca fault for fucking him over last season, should of let him leave for Arsenal in January for him to get something out of his legs, but ala they left him to rot on the bench and now he has finished.

Lewandowski, Falcao, Cavani, these are world class player but they don't make a game. Falcao did that but in Atletico Madrid, not a top club. Suarez, , Ibra, and to a lesser extent RVP, these guys are a step or two ahead of the competition, they can do everything and they still are awesome when they play in the pure 9 role. Imo, the 3 first ones will never be as good as what IS (still now) Ibrahimovic. Aguero has the 'potential' to do just that, but Atletico/M.City are not the teams he needs to be in to show his talent...

If we are speaking of potential, don't forget Balotelli. I think he is the most promising young striker.

But yeah, I concur with WillyWanker, Ibrahimovic is a step ahead of everybody not called Ronaldo or Messi.

Apparently Gerard Deulofeu is moving on loan to Everton.

Blackburn's Swedish international left back Martin Olsson has transfered to Norwich, fee undisclosed.

Mandzukic's role is about more than just scoring goals, he doesn't need to be included in a striker power rank to be good at it.

The team that won the Champions League left an old school striker capable of scoring lots of goals on the bench and used a team player in his stead, so why worry about striker power ranks?

How many of you would have put Gomez in top10 strikers one year ago? Most likely everyone lol

I've been saying he is overrated since he was first labeled "world class", hahaha.
